Album Review: 'Revolution' by Roach Killa

September 30 2009 09:20 PST

Urban Desi artist Roach Killa’s reggae vibes remind us of Apache Indian, but today Roach has taken it to another level with his interpretation of east meets west. Roach Killa has received great recognition for his previous collaborations with artists like Parichay, Blitzkrieg, and Miss Pooja. Now he's ready to launch his career and prove that he's got talent all on his own.

What We Think

Roach Killa is not messing around as he has released an album with 11 unique tracks. His single "Yaara Dil Dara" is already making it to the top of the charts as it has great beats, smooth vocals and Surinder Ratan! "Thora Thora" is another fun and familiar song with a twist from the song "Gud Naal Ishq."

"Maa" is Roach's tribute to his mother; this seems to be a reoccurring theme on the Urban Desi scene. The title song "Revolution" has a classic reggae beat and tells the story of Roach Killa's life. There’s a similar theme in "Pardes."

Best Songs

Yara Dildara

See Ya Tomorrow

Thora Thora

Worst Song

"Puff Dat"

"Puff Dat" doesn’t have bad beats or terrible vocals, but it does send a bad message. To go from a song about a mother's struggle to a track about smoking all day, all night, all around the world is just bad taste.

Final Verdict

Roach Killa stays true to his style of music and has not conformed to what the Urban Desi scene is currently giving us. "Revolution" is for anyone who has enjoyed Roach in the past and anyone who loves Apache Indian. With songs like "Yaara Dil Daara" and "Thora Thora," the album has mass appeal with touches of Surinder Ratan and familiar lyrics. "Revolution" is now available in stores throughout the U.K.

shahid ali khan's yaara dil dara is awesome. what a blend of hip hop and qawali. downloaded the album, its not that good, 6/10 for me. imran khan's unforgettable gets a 9.5/10 and swami's newly released album gets a 9/10 for me. Des-C's First Flight has awesome beats but the lyrics suck. a 4/10 for me.!
