From Sydney to London, New York, & final destination Mumbai – DMAJOR are truly international in every respect of the word. While always clinging tight to their Indian heritage, the sisters were raised in Australia & the UK, before spreading their wings & venturing off on their own. While each member was busy racking up an impressive list of solo credits in their respective hometowns, they had always dreamed of working on a project together. During one of their frequent catch-ups, the girls began writing lyrics & melodies together & experimenting with a fusion of sound that pooled their influences & worldly experiences. The girls come from a musical family, where performing onstage formed a regular part of their childhoods. Each girl is a triple threat in her own right with personality & talents that perfectly compliment each other. Their synergy is undeniable. The concept behind their unique sound was to bridge the gap between their Indian culture & their Western influences. While this blend was second nature to them, it had never been successfully attempted by a girl group before. The ladies took to the recording studio to start mapping out their ideas, with the help of seasoned producers Tigerstyle & Dboy. The connection between the sister act was electric, & their harmonies so striking that they instantly decided to unite in Mumbai to work on what would become their debut album. It was important that their music stayed true to their vision, & as a result the girls have composed every record on their album so far, each with its own unique style & flavour. Incorporating Pop, Indian Classical, R&B & Rock, DMAJOR’s signature sound is the ultimate cultural exchange between world’s most eclectic hubs. When it came to choosing a name, the girls knew they needed something with personal significance. Family was their strongest bond, while music was what brought them back together. So the choice was clear; DMAJOR signifies both a musical scale& their surname - Dandekar. With the support of some of the biggest names in Bollywood, these ladies embark on a musical journey that gives east meets west a whole new meaning. Innovative song writing, spine-tingling harmonies, vocals dripping with swagger, & slamming beats will take them where no Asian girl band has ever gone before.
