Born in 1981, Dinesh is an established Tamil rap artist in Sri Lanka and his debut album along with Gajan named ‘cross culture’ made a mark in the Sri Lankan music industry. ‘Cross culture’ was only the second Tamil album to be released under universal music and m-entertainment in Sri Lanka. The theme song of the album ‘cross culture (nam oru)’ made a blockbuster hit in the Tamil and the Sinhala market and was number one on local chart shows. Dinesh’s album ‘Gajan and Dinesh - cross culture’ was also nominated for five awards on a local award show hosted by Derana TV this year on the 05th of April 2008, and the first Tamil song to be nominated for 5 awards.
Thamila is Dinesh’s first solo album to be launched in Sri Lanka, India and Malaysia. To be mentioned, Dinesh featured artist from United Kingdom, Malaysia and srilanka in the album ‘Thamila’. The album contains new age music and a complete different musical arrangement which is quite unique to all markets. The album has been produced by the best in the local Sri Lankan market; the producers are known best for their hot beats and maintain very high standards when it comes to hip hop music.
Thamila project will be the third Sri Lanka’s finest Tamil rap and hiphop album to be launched in 21st of October 2008. The project belongs to Dinesh Kanagaratnam, one of the upcoming and current hottest sensation in the Srilankan Tamil music industry, compiled this project along with the Malaysian and Srilankan artist featuring on this album. Dinesh Kanagaratnam was in Malaysia for almost thirty working days on discussion of the Thamila launch in Malaysia. The album will be launched in Malaysia and India after the official launch to be held in Sri Lanka this October 2008.
