London based composer and producer Shammi Pithia has recently come on to the scene with the début release of his E.P. ‘Cinema of the Ears’. This E.P. offers a taster of Shammi’s musical interests, which are further developed in greater detail and scale in his forthcoming album (which is currently in the compositional stage).

Not coming from a traditional musical family, Shammi has learnt his craft over the years through education and self development. He has achieved a BA (hons) in Music Technology & Innovation from De Montfort University and has also achieved a Masters of Arts degree (by independent study) in Classical Indian Music, Musical Emotion & Film Music Composition from the same institution.

This journey has formed a base and centre for his music composition and philosophy today. Shammi is very interested in the way that music can move and touch an individual; he believes that music has an inherent power, and thus believes that music holds a special place within the arts. Many of Shammi’s compositions are based on theories of emotion and music. Along side these theories, Shammi has a huge interest in the philosophical perspectives of music and is attracted by the position of music within spirituality.

As well as composing and producing his own music (which is largely influenced by classical Indian music), Shammi also currently writes and produces various types of music for different types of musicians. He is co-creating the album for U.K. based rapper Aggi Dukes (who if you have not of heard yet, you will soon!), and is also producing for artists such as Ash King.

Now that Shammi has some recordings released, he is looking to further his work in the domain of theatre, dance and film composition. Stay tuned for more!
