What a night! Sexy sarees, couture suits and glamorous gowns were seen on the best of Bollywood at the 2009 Filmfare awards. Stars set the red carpet on fire as they smiled for the paparazzi and waved at fans as they entered the event that is known as the biggest night for Bollywood!
The theme for the night was 'Young India', and the youthful handsome hosts for the show definitely represented that. Eye candies, Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor hosted the event. It seemed like the crowd appreciated them more so than the hosts of last year's show, Saif Ali Khan and Shahrukh Khan.
As demonstrated when Abhishek Bachchan gave them a standing ovation when they entered the stage and Sushmita Sen added, "We won't miss Shahrukh and Saif. We don't look back, we look forward. I am looking forward to Ranbir and Imran hosting the show.
Hmm...... wonder if the Khans are going to lose sleep over the fact that the youth might taking over? The event this year definitely wasn't dominated by King Khan at all. In fact he didn't even win the best actor award as most people had expected he would.
So who were the winners for the night? Well the uber chic Priyanka Chopra won Best Actor (female) for her work in 'Fashion'. Poor girl sure wasn't doing the catwalk as she limped up to the stage to receive her award. The actress had an accident earlier which caused her to limp through the night. Nonetheless, she exhumed elegance in her long deep blue gown. Priyanka Chopra thanked the director of 'Fashion', Madhur Bhandarkar for believing in her.
Best Actor (male) went to the very handsome, Hrithik Roshan for his role in the film 'Jodhaa Akbar'. Hope Shahrukh Khan wasn't to mad about that one! Guess your double role in 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' just wasn't good enough King Khan! Well anyways it's cool that Hrithik won but it's too bad the actor was a no show. The director of 'Jodhaa Akbar', Ashutosh Gowariker accepted the award for him.
Arjun Rampal rocked his black suit that his wife picked out for him to wear to the event as he proudly accepted his award for Best Actor (male) in a Supporting Role for, "Rock On". The Best Actor (female) in a Supporting Role was Kangana Ranaut for 'Fashion'. Kangana thanked Madhur Bhandarkar and her co-stars, Priyanka Chopra and Mudgha Godse.
Ashutosh Gowariker who was on stage earlier to accept the award for Hrithik Roshan returned with Ronnie Screwvala to accept the award for Best Film, Jodhaa Akbar.
We can't forget one of the major components of a Bollywood film, music. We watched AR Rahman take over the Oscars and we were happy to see the man of the moment win Best Music Director for his work on the film, "Jaane Tu........Ya Janne Na". He was presented the award by the legendary singer, Asha Bhonsle.
Some other highlights included Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor arriving at the event upholding their title as Bollywoods hottest couple as they complimented each other with their outfits. Kareena Kapoor had on a stunning white sari and Saif wore a sharp black suit. Preity Zinta arrived without Ness Wadia! Wonder what's going on there? And Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor were seen hanging out back stage. Are they good friends or was there true chemistry on-set when they shot 'Sawariya'?
The night was filled was gossip so stay tuned for more to come, but for now check out a few pictures of some of the celebs entering the event. More photographs are to come.

everyone needs to chill, it was a joke. If you are a true SRK fan you know that he's admitted to being award hungry and critcs make fun of it all that all the time.
For me it´s one of the worst articles, I´ve read in a longer time (and I´m not that young anymore). As if Shah Rukh needs to envy other actors for their achievements. HE is the one, who always feels joy and sympathy for others (esp. for young/younger people). In 20 yrs he got everything he could have ever dreamt of and asked for. One Best Actor Award less won´t shake him in the foundations. Besides, he´s never claimed to be sure about winning an Award, coz he doesn´t really expect it (like in all the years before, what doesn´t mean he wouldn´t like to get a Black Lady), also not by attending the show with an injured shoulder. Therefore he´s too pure at heart, unlike other actors. So please, get the facts right before you create such an article (and try to hide your great dislike for Shah Rukh better, was too obvious). Just watch next year´s Filmfare Awards function - Shah Rukh with MNIK is then all set to conquer and clarify all over again who´s still the real King of Bollywood!
I actually like the article, it was a fresh approuch to this as oppose the the usual just listing of winners. Insulting someone just cause u dont like what they say is rather uncalled for, so Rajshri, please learn some manners, it is a rather known fact that SRK is a bit award hungry, and that is a self admission. This article is what its suppose to be, entertaing, not political so just take it as that. Rajshri,,, the fact that u are probably younger is apparent, but as life goes on u will see there are bigger things than this. In short get a life. Souad, please keep you pakistani policitc out of this, why dont u guys build a film industry first and then talk.
Did you guys forget how he insulted Darsheel the cute child actor last year a feared losing to him?
you guys need to chill. he's just an actor. Not an activist. Plus he is known to go after awards, he even admited to try to bribe filmfare for his first award. Its just a joke the article is not calling him a bad actor. chill people.
Wow... f*cksrk, you seem to have the same level of intelligence as the writer of this article. Zero.
srk is sucker, he sucks, he is the worst actor in bollywood!! he knows only money and unfair award...GO TO HELL SRK AND WHOEVER WORSHIPS HIM!!!
i just can't understand you people, the one who wrote this crap is just an idiot seeking for attention, you indians just don't deserve an actor like shahrukh, you are too retarded to recognize his value, the man is in the 50 powerful poeple in the world, and it's an american newspaper who reported it, i think he derserves more respect don't you think?how come we his oversease fans love him more, appreciate his movies more,we are more proud of him than you , his people, who spend all their time bashing, finding him someone to replace him, believe me no shahrukh no bollywood, then we wouldn't have to read or bear your crap!!!he is the king, teh best thing that happened in bollywoo you just can't change that!
Shah Rukh doesn't do anything to make sure he wins. I really doubt it was hard for him to come to this award function. I think most of us knew Hrithik would win. Just because Shah Rukh wins a lot doesn't mean he expects to win all the time. That's a misconception. Shah Rukh is a good guy, who came to this function with a clean heart. If some people can't seem to believe he's got a genuine and good heart, then it's their problem. Shah Rukh was looking very happy at the award function, that's all that matters. Who cares about these 'reporters' (who seriously need to learn the profession of journalism) who use their work to disrespect people instead of bringing news.
That who wrote this crappy clause simply die. Because the country in which it is allowed to write such words about the best people has no chances of the future. Shahrukh the best person the great actor and only RNBDJ best film. JA crap!
This article seems more towards insulting Shahrukh than towards congratulating Hrithik. Shows the mentality of the writer. Some people dedicate their lives towards hating others.Shahrukh had 1 release last year as main lead and that was RNBDJ. It was a blockbuster hit.
SRK and Saif are awesome, but Ranbir and Imran killed it!
I loved the hosts! fresh faces are always great.
Yeah I love Shahrukh too to but he is known to desire to win the awards so the awards show was probably rough for him. He is a good person and supports new comers but he has been known to do crazy things in the past to make sure he wins
what 2 movies? he only had 1 release last year that he was a leading actor in?
Lets face it, SRK is hot but this year his two movies tankee. Although I love him I agree that it must have been difficult for him to take step off the thrown this year. Maybe next year, but Hrithik did deserve more this year.
GET A LIFE! talking like that about ShahRukh is NOT RIGHT! when My Name Is Khan is released and he gets ALL THE BEST ACTOR AWARDS then i'll come and read your article and what you have to say because ShahRukh Khan is THE BEST ACTOR and your lousy ARTICLE isnt going to change that!
This is one of the most unprofessional article I've ever read. It's kind of pathetic how you're trying to pull Shah Rukh Khan down by pretending you know what he thinks, feels or expected. Instead of making him look bad, I think you made a fool out of yourself IMO
I love Sushmita sen, she is getting more hype with her new film and looked very classy at the awards.
wait, so what won best film?
where are the stars??? are you calling these B grade stars???
what about katrina kaif?? she performed, she was looking fantastic!!!!!
