ABC casts an ABCD in 'Greek'

July 24 2007 19:00 PST

Brown hits college town in ABC Family’s new original series “Greek,” which includes the Karachi-born, USA-raised Dilshad Vadsaria in its quirky cast of geeks, hotties, and jocks. Dilshad plays Rebecca, a senator’s daughter and campus “it” girl with every sorority vying for her membership. Behind closed doors, however, the polished preppie is anything but pure. The actress was born in Karachi and came to the US when she was 6 years old, moving around with her family and ending up at the University of Delaware. After getting her degree in Biology, she jetted off to New York to study acting. Dilshad’s race doesn’t seem to be an issue in her casting, as ABC named her “Rebecca” and made her a wild sorority girl – proving that an Indian actress can go mainstream without being trotted out in a sari and bhindi! A Pakistani sorority chick? Tell us what you think!
