The 747 trio, Baba Kahn, Lomaticc and Sunny Brown hail from Toronto, Canada and seem to have crept onto the music scene and mesmerized many. From Lomaticc’s and Baba Kahn’s productions to Lomaticc's sexy voice and Sunny Brown's Punjabi masala, this crew seems to have it all. As they have been working on "Culture Shock 2: Blackmarket Edition" for a year, fans around the world have waited eagerly. Well the album is out, but does it meet expectations?
What We Think:"Culture Shock 2: Blackmarket Edition" consists of 14 songs, five of which are familiar. The album opens up with "Picture Perfect." The song has a great beat with great traditional Punjabi sounds matched up with the initial beat. One of the next tracks on the album, which is also one of the best, is "King!" Lomaticc's vocals are as fly as ever, the lyrics are catchy and the music is phenomenal. We've seen these guys adopt Bollywood songs in the past, and they do it again on this track.
Moving right along we hear quite a different sound with "5 Million Kisses." This song does not have the same club, party vibe we have come to expect from the 747 trio but it has a sweeter melody and cheesy lyrics. "5 Million Kisses" definitely adds a new and unique element to the album and we commend the crew for that. "Teri Ankhon Mein (In Your Eyes)" has a rock vibe. Sunny Brown sings it with emotion and power and it takes us back to urban vibes.
"Tonight," the first single many have come to love, has two versions. On the album both versions of "Tonight" have been combined, and we don't mind it. "Slip and Fall," "So Fine (Remix)," "Bombay Bo," and "Dil (Heart") are also familiar tracks by now.
Best Songs
Worst Song:
Smash Dip (Featuring Swag Dog Diggity)
Every so often we come across songs that we love but that annoy us at the same time. "Smash Dip" is one of those. It features this awful horn sound which outshines the vocalists. The track opens up with this 'noise' but it comes and goes as the chorus is heard. Every time we hear this song, we get a bit of a headache.
Final Verdict
The 747 trio has composed an album with a good variety of sounds. They have truly given us a dynamic Urban Desi album. From songs that are sweet and smooth to others that have heavy beats and make you want to dance, "Culture Shock 2: Blackmarket Edition" has it all! These artists will soon be embarking upon their solo careers and we can't wait to see what they have in store for us next. "Culture Shock 2: Blackmarket Edition" is a free gift from Baba Kahn, Lomaticc, and Sunny Brown. To get the album go to www.747records.com. It is an opportunity not to be passed.
