Miss Pooja has been singing her whole life. After earning a Masters in Music, she took the Bhangra scene in India by storm with her sweet yet powerful vocals. She later began recording duets with a number of artists based in England. Once she had established herself on the Indian scene, Miss Pooja took her career to the UK where she continued to collaborate with some of the biggest names in the business. But 2009 is truly Miss Pooja’s year as she has released a solo album and has taken on a more hip and fresh look.

What We Think:
There is no doubt that the Bhangra scene has been bustling with some great male talent lately, so it's nice to see a female vocalist making it, and an amazing one at that. "Romantic Jatt" is not your typical UK Bhangra music, nor is it a traditional Indian Bhangra album. Miss Pooja's latest venture features both traditional tracks and urban flavors. "Romantic Jatt"  has been produced by big names like Rishi Rich, Kam Frantic, Aman Hayer, and Tarli Digital - just to name a few. And with diverse producers come diverse tunes. 

 

The more traditional songs on the album are "Aj Kidron Chan Chadya, " "Marhak Punjaban Di, " and "Nachdi Pairan Vich. " Every track combines cool dhol beats, Miss Pooja's rich vocals, and the fun "balle balle" vibe. Tunes such as "Kise De Naal Pyar," "Romantic Jatt featuring Roach Killa ", and "Chan Fika Fika" embody urban tastes without the dhol beats. The new urban route that Miss Pooja is trying out is phenomenal! Her album will surely appeal to a younger generation of fans. 

Each song has its own story and essence. Miss Pooja's vocals really shine through in "Aj Kidron Chan Chadya" as it is a slower and more emotional song. The soft piano intro helps the ear to focus on Miss Pooja who belts out her lyrics, giving us goose bumps. "Romantic Jatt" and "Nachdi De Pairan Vich" are both remixed on the album. The "Romantic Jatt" remix features Roach Killa who adds a very urban vibe onto the track. Tigerstyle took a risk on this collaboration but we love it! Tarli Digital joined in on the album with a remix of Aman Hayer's production of the song "Nachdi De Pairan Vich." That tune has gone from folk Punjabi to UK Bhangra in a true transformation.

Romantic Jatt
There are two versions of this song on the album: "Romantic Jatt" and "Romantic Jatt" featuring Roach Killa. The Tigerstyle remix and the Roach Killa addition makes "Romantic Jatt" a hit! You can easily skip the original track and fast forward to the remix, so the original version of "Romantic Jatt" could have easily been excluded!

Final Verdict
Miss Pooja's vocals, Bhangra dhol beats and urban flair are the strengths of this 9 track album. "Romantic Jatt" is a great summer album. There are songs for the all the Bhangra fans out there who loved Miss Pooja's previous albums, and at the same time, the Bhangra star offers a new flavor likely to appeal to a younger crowd.
