There is no doubt that 2009 is going to be a great year in hip-hop as new projects come out and more and more hip-hop artists dabble in different business related ventures.

This is no exception for the American based rapper Kurupt, the co-founder of the rap group Dogg Pound, who is shaping up for quite a year in music, one which has already started with a bang. Kurupt has had a pretty successful career up until now, but his management firm Lakeshow Management which is based out of Atlanta and Kurupt himself have now formed Penagon Entertainment, a new record label which has signed an agreement to be distributed under Fontana/Universal.

The ultra savvy and smart Kurupt who is on his way to becoming a regular business mogul with the likes of Dr. Dre, Kanye West, and Diddy has made the agreement with the stipulation that he should have rights over the creative aspects of all of his own music and also the ability to sign whomever he may choose to the record label. Kurupt, the former Vice President of Death Row Records, the Dr. Dre record label which first signed Kurupt, will also be collaborating this year with DJ Quik to release a new LP album titled "Blaqout", which they got the idea for when they worked with each other on the most recent Snoop Dogg record. In addition to the two projects, Dogg Pound will be doing a follow up album to their 2005 CD "Dogg Food".

Despite all of the different things that Kurupt is getting his hands into, the first release that will be put out by the newly formed Penagon Entertainment, now distributed as Peragon/Fontana/Universal will still be his own album which is a solo effort called "Street Lights".
