Amitabh Bachchan was in Macau recently to tie up any loose strings for the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA). Not too long ago, he announced that Macau would serve as the picturesque host country for the 2009 IIFA Videocon Weekend. The event will take place from June 11th-June 13th.
Last year's event took place in Bangkok so it was imperative that this year's locale would be just as interesting and beautiful. This event, marking the 10th edition of the weekend affair will be held at The Venetian(r) Macao-Resort-Hotel.
Amitabh Bachchan's trip wasn't all business. He took some time out of his hectic schedule for a gondola ride. He said of the experience that "After Venice, I have experienced a gondola after thirty years at the Venetian Macau. It was an enchanting experience. I sat on the gondola thirty years back to shoot the song 'Do Lafzon Ki Hai' for my film 'The Great Gambler'. The song for the film not only made the Venetian gondola popular, but Venice as well."
