Since this week's theme on American Idol was top iTunes downloads, Anoop Desai chose a song from one of Usher's big time hits called "Caught Up" from his album "Confessions". Anoop wanted to go back to reminiscing on the Top 36 performances where everyone performed on stage in front of the judges. Anoop chose this song as a song he "can relate to if he saw someone else singing it." Anoop also said that he wanted to follow the advice given by Randy last week on making the high vocals in his singing.
After singing his song with a lovely group of background singers and some signature style waves performed on stage, the crowd applauded at his performance but all the judges thought that this wasn't one of Anoop Desai's best performances.
Randy Jackson said that the vocals were good, "but I don't think it was the right song for you though. I'm a little torn."
Kara DioGuardi commented that "when you played Usher, you kind of played it safe like he did. I feel like there wasn't much of a difference."
Next, Paula Abdul said she enjoyed it. She mentioned that she was "glad you went back to your playful side. The last two weeks, you have shown us beautiful vocals." Paula thought that Anoop had to work on his stage performance by "showing us your signature styles in your performance."
Simon Cowell gave his honestly brutal remarks by saying "It was a completely utter mess. You came over as a wannabe. The arrangement was a mess, it kind of gave me a headache."
We want your opinion on Anoop Desai's Top 9 performance. Do you think that Anoop will make it through to next week in tonight's elimination? Drop your comments below.
