A.R. Rahman and Pussycat Dolls Remix 'Jai Ho'

There's just no stopping A.R. Rahman! We got our hands on the remix of the Oscar winning song 'Jai Ho' featuring someone who is all too familiar with Desi Hits!, The Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger.
Desi Hits! CEO Anjula Acharia-Bath was one the first to uncover musical genius A.R. Rahman with Interscope records CEO Jimmy Iovine,who is hard at work on the remix of this song from 'Slumdog Millionaire'. "I really think it’ll be a great dance anthem. It had an amazing beat and great writers; this track is the epitome of what Desi Hits! stands for, the collaboration of sounds from the East and West," said Anjula.
So does the song hold up? Well, Nicole Scherzinger adds sexy vocals to the drum beats of A.R. Rahman. The song still contains the elements of the original version, which people loved enough to give an Oscar to.
Nicole Scherzinger stated in a past interview with Desi Hits! that she wanted to go Bollywood, and now she has, and according to her the reward is plentiful. "It's an honor to be able to collaborate with A.R. Rahman and be a part of the Slumdog Millionaire project in any way. The movie, the story, and the music was a gift and very spiritually uplifting for me. I can only hope and pray Slumdog Millionaire, and my version of 'Jai Ho (You are my Destiny)' touches and connects people all around the world".
She actually fits the instrumental in a refreshing and surprising way. This cultural anthem which captivates the audience during the film 'Slumdog Millionaire' is remixed to give you something new, which will continue to give this film even more crossover appeal than it already has. As if 8 Oscars wasn't enough.
Stylistically, A.R. Rahman's instrumentation actually compliments the Pussycat Dolls style. The mesh of east and west comes together making it more into a love song adding lyrics that tell a story. If you close your eyes you can almost picture Latika and Jamal kissing in the train station.
With all the clarity in production I wonder if A.R. Rahman used the Dr. Dre headphones to mix the song. Wouldn't you guys love to know? Well check out our first article on this remix to find out.

the remix was really a fantastic one!! i too have listen to the music!!! initially i heard the song in one of our locam Radio FMs here in Nigeria, so i said wait a moment is this a remix of Jaiho from slumdog millionaire, so the next day i started goggling and luckly enough now i have downloaded both the towo versions of Jaiho (A R Rahman and Pussycat dolls'versions). well done job A Rahman and pussycat keep it up!!!

sumati - don't you think that BY AR doing this he is taking his music and the music of India to audiences that would never hear or appreciate our music? I hear what you are saying but I think that the acceptance of our music in west at this level will open opportunities for indian art of all types to gain popularity in a market they don't have. Pussycat dolls have made this song palatable for a western audience that wouldn't care for bollywood music or even AR Rahman. I wouldn't say he sold out i would say that he wants to take his talent worldwide and he has done that - why shouldn't he have global fame when western artists and producers have that in India we should have that in the west too. Also I think is great that a band like the pussycats have embraced our culture - their acceptance means many millions of fans they influence will also be accepting of us.

Nothing is sacred. Overlaying provocative lyrics to a refrain that means "victorious" just killed the song for me. I am a huge A.R. Rahman fan, and to hear sexual references in the lyrics makes me wonder about why he would want his song bastardized like this. He is a great great composer & artist and doesn't need to sell out like this. I am sure he has plenty of money and has now achieved such a level of fame, this makes no sense. How can people say this is great, mindblowing, etc.? What is mindblowing is how a man of such stature would give consent to this change of lyrics.

sorry but this has stolen the joy of the song, and reduced it to a bubble gum laced pop song. perhaps a different female vocalist, rhiana perhaps could have done ar rahman justice.
