Behind the Scenes with Panjabi By Nature and Miss Pooja

December 17 2008 03:45 PST

You may have heard news of Bhangra producer Panjabi By Nature's return to the scene with a brand new album 'Homegrown,' and we're here to bring you news on the first single from the album!  He's brought us such hits as, 'Aaj Mein Peeni,' Nachdi,' and 'Jaan Panjabi' and now he's adding 'Aashiq' to the list!  The first single off the new album, 'Aashiq' features one of Bhangra's hottest stars of the moment, Miss Pooja and we have pictures from the video shoot below!  This marks Miss Pooja's first solo UK video release and by the looks of the picture, she's looking pretty dolled up!  Yet, she's not completely alone as the video also features The Dhol Foundation, Gabhru Panjab De and Shaan Mutiyara Di.

PBN's 'Homegrown' is set to hit shelves early 2009 and is his first album in 4 years!  His last album, 'Ready or Not' wasn't short of superstar collaborators and neither is the new album!  Lembher Hussainpuri, K.S. Bhamrah from the group Apna Sangeet, Dippa Dosanjh, Sameera and Charanjit Channi all make appearances on the highly anticipated album.  Also this album promises to be different in the fact that every track will feature the sounds of a love Bhangra band with the dhol, dholaki, and tabla, as well as tracks with the sarangi, mandolin and flute for an authentic Bhangra sound.  Plus the album's tagline is, "made for the dance floor" so it sounds like we'll get another dose of tracks that will be blasting from the speakers at Desi club nights.

With tons of expectations riding on the success of the album, we wonder if 'Homegrown' will live up to the hype.  So come early 2009 will you be picking up the album?  Drop us a comment and let us know!

I am so looking forward to PBN's new album. I am sure this song is going to be fantastic and its about time we saw pooja on her own as half of the singers she has sang with do not match her vocals at all. Any ideas on release date?
