The Best of the Best is definitely the biggest Desi college dance competition in the US and as we continue our coverage leading up to the competition we bring you a spotlight on dance itself and how it widely considered the main form of expression for Indian culture.

If you’ve seen any Bollywood film it’s plain to see dance is an integral part of the movie, yet it stretches beyond cinema - it’s become inherently ingrained into the culture.  For example there are tons of young Desi kids who are enrolled not only in Indian classical dance, Bollywood and Bhangra classes but mainstream as well.  So it comes as no surprise that these college dance teams are formed from that passion and history of dance.  In saying that, the Best of the Best competition in many ways is a celebration of dance and it’s involvement in the Desi culture.
