It's Friday and you know what that means, Desi Hits! is here to tell you if the latest B-Town film, Kismat Konnection, is worth your cash or not, as part of Filmi Fridays.

MOVIE REVIEW

Kismat Konnection is another film that I was looking forward to after all the promotion Shahid and Vidya have been doing lately, as well as the hot soundtrack.  And  I was pleasantly surprised.

CAST:  Shahid Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Juhi Chawla, Om Puri

PLOT:  Raj (Shahid Kapoor) was number one in everything he does, from sports to academics in college, but it seems lately he's had some negative luck or kismat following him, and he's desperate to change his luck.  While Priya (Vidya Balan) is tough-talking, decision making kind of girl, who'll do anything to save her beloved community center.  This is where Raj convinces her he can help and also makes her aware of her cheating fiance.  Is Priya his lady luck?

THE GOOD:  It's a light and breezy film, perfect for two kids out on their first date.  Shahid Kapoor is the quintessential lover boy, and he proves he can axcel in comedy as well as dramatic points within the film.  He proves there's a reason that he's been compared to Shahrukh Khan, not that he resembles him, but rather he reminds you of SRK's nineties chocolate boy days... not to mention he's adorable!  Vidya too is excellent in her role and their much buzzed about chemistry is spot on.  Pritam's music has the golden touch.. Ai Paapi, Bakhuda Tumhi Ho, and Soniye Ve are all enjoyable.

THE BAD:  Where the first half breezes by, the second drags on, there are a number of scenes that could've been left on the cutting room floor.  Juhi's character can get annoying and over the top at times, and the story isn't totally original, as it reminds you of Lindsay Lohan's, Just My Luck.     

THE VERDICT:  It's a romance we've all seen, and fits the 'chick-flick' genre to a T, but it's the way the story is told, the chemistry between the leads and the music that makes this film an enjoyable watch.  Got a date tonight?... Maybe you'll find your kismat with this movie... Hey you never know!
