'Chandni Chowk to China' Fails at the Box Office

Lately it's been hard to dispute that Akshay Kumar has become numero uno at the box office. However, that wasn't the case with his latest film, 'Chandni Chowk to China,' co-starring Deepika Padukone. The film was distributed by Hollywood's Warner Brothers and was promoted unlike any other film in Bollywood history, enjoying premieres in Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, London, Bangkok and Mumbai. With all that promotion many predicted the film to enjoy the biggest opening for a Hindi film ever.
With the tremendous success of Shahrukh Khan's 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi,' and then Aamir Khan's 'Ghajini,' 'Chandni Chowk to China' should have at least matched their stupendous opening starts. Plus the fact that it's been released on a record number of screens across the world, more then 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' and 'Ghajini' should have only helped the box office collections. That however isn't the case! 'Chandni Chowk to China' has turned out to be a complete dud in both the international and domestic markets! According to box office reports forget reaching 'Ghajini' and 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi's' success, the film opened even lower then 'Jodhaa Akbhar,' 'Race,' and 'Singh is Kinng'!
So what is it? What caused this film to bomb so disastrously? Akshay Kumar is known for his ability to charm crowds and his comedic timing pulls fans and non fans alike into theatres time and time again. Many are saying the film's plot was the short coming, others are saying Akshay Kumars brand of mindless slapstick comedy is becoming repetitive. While we can't pinpoint what the film's downfall was, we must remember that this is only one film. While it may be a major disappointment, as there was a lot riding on its success, it is just a blip in Akshay Kumar otherwise recently illustrious career. It should be interesting to see how his next film, 'Blue,' which is the complete opposite of a slapstick comedy will do.

I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THE FILM. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT PEOPLE LOOK FOR BUT I LOOK FOR RELAXATION AND ENJOYMENT, AND THIS GAVE ME WHAT I EXPECT. I RECOMMEND IT, BUT NOT IF YOU WANT TO BE A CRITIC...STAY HOME. FOR OTHERS GO..YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT
akshey kumar ne boht hi bakwaas film banaye hai her film akshey ki dabba hoti hai bakwaas hoti hai.sab main akshey hollywood film k stunt aur action scene chura ta hai jackie chain ki nakal main chandi chauk banato li per akshey ko nahi maloom k is main story bhi honi chahiye thi shayad woh bhool gaya tha idead matrix aur mission impossible ki copy karna ab to khatam karo

CC2C bad timing of a film. Poor scripts do run at box office provided they are the only ones at the box office. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi was poor but was fresh and Shah Rukh's previous Om Shanthi Om was best so he escaped. Rab ne.. lacked logic still was good entertainment and the first of the rot. Ghajini Aamir came with it after Tare Zameen Par one of his bests so was excused and well timed. Rab was a slow starter and the story though a remake was poor if not worst. So Aamir and SRK escaped but Akshay Singh is Kingh was a poor script that made a box office hit. It was the third poor script in a row at the box office. People dont have money to watch three dud movies in a row. Akshay you lost it just because you cannot give two plates of junk in a row SIK and CC2C in a row that too after RNBJ and Ghajini already having left the audiance expecting something with logic.

and yeah! akki was good,yeah good not at his best.i think the dir. n story with comedy in action sequences goes wrong.the movie is like what Govinda used to do in early of this decade.akki needs to be more versatile.

It definitely didnt do as well as it was expected to, especially all the money they invested into the hype of the film. So it was a failure at the box office
