The Story:
"Delhi-6" is of a young man named Roshan who has to bring his grandmother from America back to her home in Chandni Chowk. He begins to fell a part of the people there which includes both Muslims and Hindus living and working peacefully side-by-side.Roshan who is an American takes some time getting used to the "culture" in the country, but falls in love with the town as well as a girl named Bittu.

Abhishek Bachchan as Roshan - An American Desi who is just getting used to life in Chandni Chowk although he has moments where he tries to impress American values on the people.

Sonam Kapoor as Bittu - A beautiful, energetic girl who has bigger dreams than those her father has for her of marriage.

Waheeda Rahman as Dadi - A woman who is trying to plan for her own death, while simultaneously teaching her grandson Roshan about himself.

What Works:
The movie's underlying themes of peace, togetherness, and love are what work in this movie, because they show that we are all the same despite our "differences". There are lighthearted moments as well as other minor plots embedded in the story of deceit, love, and disappointment that make the movie interesting.

What Doesn't Work:
The film tries to say too much at once. There is religion, prejudice, hatred, love, death, life--more than anyone should have to deal with in one film. From the start the movie is strange and throughout the first half the viewer is left with a feeling that they're not sure what's going on. Not to mention that the characters (albeit oftentimes correct in their impersonations) seem to have characteristics that generalize the people too much. Example being that all American Desi people go around trying to fight injustices they see when they reach India. And similarly all Indians from small towns are backward, uncivilized and superstitious.

The Soundtrack:
The soundtrack's eclectic feel is in keeping with the film. There are no dance numbers where the whole town joins in a choreographed song of love and joy. The music is always in the background and sometimes the characters themselves sing, but most of the time they don't. There are some nice songs like "Masakalli" and "Genda Phool", but the music is mostly used quite nicely to play along with the characters lives rather than have them participate in song and dance.

Slated Or Rated?
Slated. Although on a personal level I enjoyed it, this movie doesn't have the mass appeal that I believe the people involved were hoping for. Everyone was great, but the looming strangeness took away from it and left many people unsure of what just happened and what was to be taken away from it. It's one of those films that not everyone can appreciate so go in without any expectations and you may find yourself enjoying it more.
