With a well toned body and a smile that can kill, John is taking over the world with his latest projects. We're in conversation with John Abraham, who's not only worshipped by girls but now is even the new gay icon, of the Bollywood industry...

DH!: 'Dostana' has been one for your biggest hits so far, how does that make you feel?

JA: It's feels great to be a part of a movie like such. Though lots of eyebrows were raised
with the theme of this movie, but it feels great that the movie has gotten good feedback so far.

DH!: Controversies brewed not only around the theme but also around your most revealing poster as well, what are your thoughts on that?

JK: (laughs) I knew that was coming up. I am somebody who is proud of the way I look and I'm not ashamed to show off my body. (gins) It was just a style statement for 'Dostana'. My character was shown as a sexy Casanova, and my character demanded something like this. Besides, I was more than happy to do so and have no regrets.

DH!: How was it working with Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra?

JA: I love Abhishek Bachchan. He was absolutely brilliant. That guy has the perfect comic timing and he just changes the atmosphere with his presence. Priyanka Chopra was sensational during the film. As much fun and chemistry that we shared on screen, we shared even at the times we weren't shooting.

DH!: Do you think your career has enhanced with this film?

JA: (thinks for a while) I don't really know, it's for the audience to decide. But the role was quite different from what I've done in the past. I believe I've broken the myth of just carrying one expression on the camera. In this movie, I've got various shades which are funny, romantic, casual, etc? Plus my look in the film as quite different as well.

DH!: Well, speaking of which, What's your secret to such a well maintained body and a wonderful style statement?

JA: Just the right work outs, healthy food a good lifestyle is the best way for a good physique. It's important to be healthy first, and then toning out your body. As far as a style statement goes, I really don't have any. I wear whatever I am comfortable in. something plain and simple would just about suit anybody.

DH!: Recently you were at a the Upper Crust food event, does that mean you are a foodie as well?

JA: Totally. I worship food! (laughs) I am guy who can just go crazy over Japanese food and what my mom cooks. I like something that's healthy, more like steamed food. I am lucky since Bipasha is quite health conscious as well, so whenever I'm at her place I know I am going to get some healthy but tasty food. I even tell my chefs that as long as the food is low on calories and yet great on the taste buds, I am fine with it..

JA: Can we get an insight to your upcoming film 'New York'?

JA: Ironically, 'New York' was shot in Philadelphia due to the locations. It's much easier to shoot there. It's an Aditya Chopra film based on terrorism. I've shot there for about three months and am simply in love with that place.

DH!: How was it to work opposite Katrina Kaif?

JA: Oh Katrina is a wonderful person. She's absolutely stunning and a great co-star. It was fun working with her in the film, she's a person who's not only got a great on screen presence but an off-screen one as well.

DH!: Did you miss Bipasha Basu with your frequent international trips?

JA: Absolutely! I missed Bipasha Basu, my parents, everyone. And most of all I missed home cooked food. It's just been too much to handle the international schedule. As I shot for 'Dostana' for three months in Miami followed by shooting in Phili and now we are hitting Boston for Abbas Tyrewala's film. So yea, it's been pretty hectic. But I was glad as Bipasha and my parents visited me often. That kept me away from getting home sick (smiles)

DH!: So what's next after being a gay icon?

JA: (laughs) It's so hilarious when people call me a gay icon. It feels overwhelming that first women titled me as the sexiest man and now homosexuals have a soft corner for me.

DH!:We've heard that you've converted people on the sets of the film, 'Ashayein' to a healthy lifestyle, tell us about it?

JA: Oh the news is out already? I followed my strict diet on the sets as well, and the cast and crew of 'Ashayein' was quite intrigued by that. I use to lecture them for hours on how to maintain a decent body and before I knew it, I was titled as their health guru.

DH!: Any particular reason for the movie to get delayed?

JA: I don't really know what's going there. I'm busy with my own shooting schedules. I guess some negotiations are going on, and the movie should be out sometime soon.

DH!: Leave us with some last thoughts on your current hottest film 'Dostana'.

JA: I found 'Dostana' to be fun. Again, I am not playing a gay character. The movie is out and people know that. However, I am quite ok with people making their own choices and if people are encouraged and are ready to come out with their true choices after this movie, then that just adds on to my happiness for doing this film..
