The Chandrayaan 1 spacecraft set off for a two-year-long journey to the moon in India's first ever lunar mission! The craft launched from an island near Andhra Pradesh and will reportedly take from one to two weeks to reach the moon. The Chandrayaan 1's course is set to orbit the moon and examine it's surface on a 3-D scale, as well as search the moon's South Pole surface for minerals and other elements (cue creepy alien music). The mission costs 3.3 billion Indian rupees ($78 million US and 45 million British pounds). The move is a historic one for India, and the epic lunar probe blast was aired live on national television. Too bad the craft was unmanned. The Bollywood Bar Stewards would have made stellar test subjects! Next move... Desi Hits!, the lunar edition! Check out video of the launch!
