If you weren’t at The Canal Room in NYC on February 9th, let’s just say you missed out big time, because Jay Gatzby’s birthday party was one hell of a night to remember. From the celebrity pre-party at a posh NYC penthouse, to the bangin’ performances by artists like, The Bilz and Kashif, Kidd Skilly, Blitz and The 1 Shanti at the party, to the early morning after party, I was there to witness it all, and lucky for you I’m willing to spill all the inside scoop!

The night began in style at a glamorous NYC loft in Tribeca, with all celebrities like, Kidd Skilly, The Bilz and Kashif, Blitz and D Boy… and of course the whole Desi Hits! family was there representing with resident DJs like Terry Mardi, Arun, P, the 'Girl’s Night In' ladies: Manjit and Anjali. It was a scene that belonged on T.V. screens and music videos – anything and everything you’d expect from a celebrity party. After everyone mingled and the champagne started flowing it was time to move venues on to the big bash itself.

The party was held at the ultra trendy Canal Room and the scene outside the club was insane with long line of party goers trying their best to get into the event that was described as ‘the celebration of the Urban Desi movement.’ The night began with the World’s number 1 female DJ, DJ Kayper on the decks getting the crowd hyped for the performances alongside DJ Kunal M from the Corner radio show. And celebration it was with the VIP section poppin’ full of the biggest names in the industry like, Raghav, Deesha, Sumeet, D Boy and all of the aforementioned performers. And the whole night was MC’d by Desi Hits! very own Terry Mardi and DJ Arun. Then there were the performances themselves with Virginia rapper Jax starting it off getting the crowd hype and ready for the next act which was Canadian rapper Blitz alongside new artist Parichay. Of course Blitz gave the crowd something to remember with his performance of ‘Juliet or Heer.’

Then there was the insane performance by Kidd Skilly and his WITNIS camp who had the whole crowd on their feet and dancing to the ‘Ni Soniye’ track. They even presented their boy Gatzby with a top of the line box of cigars on the stage. The next act was definitely one of the highlights of the night as Montreal’s finest The Bilz and Kashif stormed the stage with an unforgettable performance complete with a dance break from Kashif. One thing’s for sure, the ladies cannot get enough of his smooth moves! And to end the night was the man that was instrumental in creating the high power career that Gatzby’s had thus far - The 1 Shanti. His old skool rapping skills had everyone bobbin’ their heads to the beat. Then it was time for DJ Kayper and DJ Kunal M to take over and get all the beautiful ladies and hot guys on the dance floor.

With all the hot tunes they were spinning there wasn't one person who wasn't shakin' their thing! And of course the VIP was bumpin’ with bottles flowing, people movin’, all the celebs mingling with one another and the man of the hour partying it up as only he can. And just because the club had to close doesn’t mean the party ended. Everyone from the Desi Hits! family and celebs as well kept the party going until 7 in the morning!
