Hip Hop Artist Akon To Collaborate With A.R. Rahman

September 25 2008 13:15 PST

A.R. Rahman and Akon are all set to make music together. The hip-hop artist admires the Indian composer and will be working with him in the near future. Akon's manager met up with Rahman in India, this month and now Rahman will be heading to Atlanta to meet Akon in person to finalize plans for this musical venture.

With a desire to fuse South Asian music into American culture, Akon prior to this, collaborated with Kidd Skilly in the song, 'Ni Sohniye' (Hey Pretty Girl). Akon not only seems to be topping the charts in the West, but seems to be expanding himself into the East.

if a r rahman remains in the driving seat, we could be looking at something good. AR will never produce something he doesn't like. i think it will be safe to say that the piece of music will be good or will never be made

i really dig their music separately.. but this collabo better not be another disaster between "hip hop meets south asian music"... ahem snoop/ RDB/ bollywood. rahman is true musical genius though.. he'll set it straight!
