Idol Without Anoop: Matt Giraud Goes Home on 'American Idol'

It's just not fair.  Anoop Desai should still be on "American Idol." Then again, let's be honest, Anoop most likely would not have made it past this week.  Matt Giraud, the man with a slick voice and an ability to flip standards and pop favorite to craft his own spin on songs couldn't survive what was a very tough week.  It was Rat Pack Week on 'Idol' and while everyone for the most part held their own, somebody had to go and in Matt's case, the writing was on the wall for weeks now.

This week's special guest was none other than Jamie Foxx, the Academy Award-winning actor-turned-multiplatinum singer.  In addition to performing his biggest single to date "Blame It" last night, he was the main man assisting the Idols to get them through the hardest week yet.  Annoying lip synched performances and blatant product placement aside, yesterday's show was actually watchable.  Let's hope as 'Idol' continues to eliminate the contestants that the Wednesday show can be almost as good as the Tuesday show.  Next week will be insane though.  Daughtry will hit the stage to perform a new song and No Doubt will perform for the first time in years!  You don't want to miss that!

It's amazing to realize that we're down to the final four contestants.  It's hard to say which one can win at this point because it really is anyone's game.  Each singer has a legitimate case to win this year.   The "American Idol" judges love Allison Iraheta and some would argue that she may be the next Kelly Clarkson, who won the first season of 'Idol.'  My guess is that she survives next week, but ultimately leaves afterwards.  A top 3 finish would be nothing to sneeze at for her, especially since no one really knew what she was about entering the competition.

Kris Allen has been good, bad, and average throughout the competition.  He's a huge enigma singing, but I guess he's a big hit with all the girls in the audience.  There were weeks where I thought he should have gone home, but there were also weeks, like last week's Disco Week where I thought he was the best singer in the competition.  I'll venture to say that his looks will only get him so far and he's the guy with the bulls-eye next week to go home.

That would leave us with Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey.  Adam is the nail polish wearing rocker who can slick his hair and wail notes that would make Sebastian Bach jealous.  Danny Gokey has been one of the feel good stories of the competition, losing his wife to illness right before entering the auditions.  This will be more entertaining than David Cook vs. David Archuleta from last year and is a duel that would be too close to call.   My vote will remain the same way it has been since day one of the competition.  I'm picking Danny Gokey to overcome all and win the competition.  Adam Lambert might be selling the most singles on iTunes (we know this now due to the glitch on Apple that showed the previously secret sales), but Danny Gokey has yet to be in the bottom three.  Those guys usually wind up winning the competition.

So what do you guys think of my picks?  Do you think my predictions are on point or do you think I'm shortchanging someone?  Drop us a comment on how the Anoop-less"American Idol" went this week.
