Indi Hindi artist scores a track in Angelina Jolie's documentry!

May 21 2007 19:00 PST

Diversity, passion, innovation…oh yea, and 16 hours of practice a day since the age of three makes this young Desi undoubtedly one of the most talented vocalists around today! She was born Falguni Shah and goes by ‘Falu,’ good thinkin’ girl…the DesiFlyChicks already struggle with their Hindi! She’s a classically trained vocalist with genetics on her side…her mom and grandmother were talented vocalists as well...and with those kick axx genes and persistence she’s honed her skills to make her mark on the Indie music scene! Her style is combining the South Indian culture with contemporary American pop/rock and she’s gone on to do amazing things with this inventive fusion of music AND her sultry voice…from rapid, striking notes to soft, flowing melodies, her vocal and stylistic ranges vary with ease! While she was in India she was fortunate (that’s an understatement!) to have studied under the legendary and extremely talented vocal master, Ustad Sultan Khan. Her dedication and hard work paid off as Falu continued to work with some of the best in the musical industry...not just in India but here in the US as well. Her self titled album, ‘Indie Hindi,’ (clever!) will be out on August 7th. She’s performed for the Dalai Lama at Lincoln Center, appeared on the companion CD to Deepak Chopra’s book ‘The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire,’ was invited to perform with Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Project and is currently serving as one of Carnegie Hall’s Music Ambassadors to New York City. Whoa girl, you are serious competition to the studio singers we see an abundance of! Today, you can catch her vocals on the score of Angelina Jolie’s new documentary ‘A Place in Time,’ which focuses on capturing the diversity of the human spirit around the globe. On this track, she has teamed up with one of the hottest producers, rappers and artists around, Wyclef Jean…does it get any better than this? The possibilities are endless for this inventive, powerful vocalist…check her site out at www.falumusic.com
