Indian Electronica

August 31 2007 19:00 PST

With pulsating techno beats, danceable grooves and hard hitting drum and bass drops, electronica music has gained a massive underground following and has gone mainstream with artist like Madonna adopting it's style. Yet, there's a different genre of electronica that's emerging within this music movement, known as Indian Electronica.

At the forefront of this movement are Qasim Virjee and Anuj Rastogi, the founders of Toronto based company, Indian Electronica, which dubs itself as a record label as well as an annual music festival.

The Indian Electronica Festival they run hits five major cities that include, Toronto, NYC and London. The festival itself is a six to eight hour day that consists of live musical performances, DJs and dancers. So why not check out some Indian Electronica, and open your mind to a whole different genre of South Asian music!
