And Jay Sean didnt have the highest sales in the uk for a UK artist this year. That title goes to leona lewis. And if anyone of you know anything about music, you know that jay sean will never make a club track that will be played at a US club because his vocals suck. He cant hit the pitches. Piyush u think releasing a single 5 months nearly after the album is out is a bad move and takes the focus of the album. I disagree. For example quite a few artists have done this recently and more are following. An example is chris brown as he released his song forever a couple months after his album was out and that song wasnt on the album. He then did a re release of the album with a few new songs on it. IM MY OPINION i tink he is the main one representing us in the mainstream with raghav who has a new album out soon 2. If hes made decisions u dnt like fair enuf but its his decisions at the end of the day. Nothing u can or will say will change this.

IN MY OPINION, releasing a brand new single one month after an album release takes the focus off your album. Your point that he needs that to break the indian market is not right in my opinion...i've been to a couple of concerts where mainstream artists were preforming while i was on holiday in india and they bot the house down. The kind of music they listen to in india is not much different that what we in australia/uk/us listen to...If jay sean's album was SO AUSOME that it outsold kanye in japan, he should have the confidence to release it in india, unaltered and expect good sales, no? He hasnt even properly realeased it in india yet as he re recording sum tracks in hindi. His album wasnt that neyo ish i got both albums and wow only one track sounded similar!! Btw jus got neyos new album best album of the year. Jay seans been nominated for two MOBOs as well heard it on the radio. I dnt get it y asians always hate on other asians doin well. And nivla is a good artist.

insider - i respect your comment. but jay sean's album tanked in comparison to who? michael jackson? kevin federline? it's all relative, my friend. jay's got hundreds of thousands of fans around the world who love his music. at the end of the day, isn't that what should truly define an artist? or is it about the fame and fortune? everyone wants to hate on either untalented artists for being famous, or on talented artists for being unfamous. it's a fickle industry. you're right, maybe he will never be able to fully break out of the south asian scene - i agree with you, being a desi artist is somewhat of a handicap. but are you suggesting he shouldn't even try? here you are, an 'insider' (desi, i'm assuming) in the biz and pouring cold water on all desi musicians and they're innocent 14-year-old fans. wasn't every mainstream top-selling artist just their mother's neighbor's neice once?

Let me put out a couple of facts for you all to give you some perspective on how sh*t works. 1 - Yes, Jay Sean's album tanked, that's why he's releasing this single 2 - DesiHits doesn't "over" hype him, the truth of the matter is that there isn't a lot of substance to report on "urban desi" and whatnot. This is a very, very SMALL market, that is why DesiHits has resorted to reporting on Bollywood like every other desi-dedicated site out there (*hint - they get their information from other sites, very little original reporting is done here) 3 - South Asian artists aren't exactly making it big. They sell out a few club shows catering to h.s and college-aged kids, so please, please, don't show your ignorance by talking about how Nivla, Jay Sean, and your mother's next door neighbor's niece are the next big things in music. *disclaimer* - I'm not hating, I'm in the biz and just letting the few 14 yr olds that are big fans of these guys how things really are, thank you, come again.

and priya..if nivla wins a contest..its because of his merit..he came second in the superbowl competition which was judged by will.i.am and he came in the top 4 for the nike comp for which the top 16 were chosen by just blaze. haha.. Plyush, Are you aware that Japan is one of the biggest Music buying markets in the world. lol..get your facts straight. There are artists who sell a million records in Japan. In fact US acts like Ne-Yo and John Legend rely HEAVILY on Japan to subsidize their North American Sales. Jay is outselling many big US artists in Japan. To think that for some reason the UK or US are the only important markets in the world, or the only ones that carry any substantial weight is just idiotic and renders your rant useless, pointless and well...just plain stupid. I'm not a Jay Sean fan, but I do want to clear some of the stuff Piyush said about Nivla. He was signed to a DISTRIBUTION deal with Interscope meaning they will repackage and sell his album but not put any promo or anything behind as a normal artist such as PCD would get. And to top it off he got that distribution deal as part of a contest, not on his own merit. As for the JUST BLAZE beat also a contest he won. And as for Jay releasing a brand new song, I'd like to ask what Nivla's been doing after his second album... Releasing rip off remixes with P Oberoi, that's what! So please do a little research before you leave such comments.
