Cricket season has started this past month and it has caught on big time thanks to the on-going IPL frenzy and therefore it is no surprise to see some Bollywood filmmakers cashing in on the popularity of the sport which is almost a religion in India. The last film on cricket was Harry Baweja's 'Victory' which didn't catch on to audiences despite this film to be Harry's second film. Well hopefully, 'Hook Ya Crook' will get the audiences' attention.
UTV Motion Pictures' forthcoming film 'Hook Ya Crook' is one film that has cricket as the backdrop. The film, directed by the comedy king David Dhawan, has John Abraham, Genelia D'Souza, Kay Kay Menon and Shreyas Talpade in lead roles. The film is set in a prison and revolves around a cricket match played among the inmates. Sounds a lot similar to Adam Sandler's film 'The Longest Yard', but David promises that this movie will not be exactly like its Hollywood counterpart just like when Salman Khan's 'Partner' was compared to Will Smith's 'Hitch' but it was still successful.
With David at the control of things, this one promises to be a complete entertainer. Also it would be interesting to see the fresh pairing of John and Genelia for the first time on the big screen. Majority of the film has been shot at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad. The ensemble cast includes Pavan Malhotra, Murli Sharma, Krishna and Sharad Kapoor.
John who impressed one and all with his football skills in 'Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal' will showcase his cricket skills this time in 'Hook Ya Crook'. Rumors are told that John's good friend and captain of the Indian Cricket Team M.S. Dhoni is making a cameo in this film. With such an impressive star cast and an interesting premise, 'Hook Ya Crook' is certainly among the most awaited films of this year.
Besides filming, John Abraham has also tended to animal care by planning to make a sanctuary for elephants. The actor reportedly wanted to buy a piece of forest land for elephant rehabilitation. John, along with wildlife filmmaker and environmentalist Mike Pandey, is working to set up an elephant home on the Maharashtra-Karnataka border. Now John himself plans to buy a perfect forest area for elephants as their number is declining at an alarming rate. I guess besides his body, he also cares for animals. Go figure!
Anyway, we want your opinion on the film. Do you think David Dhawan will have a follow-up success after 'Partner'? Will John Abraham wow us with his skills in cricket after seeing him play football in 'Dhan Dana Dan Goal'? Will John and Genelia make a good pair on screen? Give us your opinions on it.
