So who is the next star from the tinseltown of the west to pay a visit to the mother land? From Naomi Campbell to Beyonce Knowles, India is no stranger to welcoming celeb guests from the States. And now " Pretty Woman" Julia Roberts is visiting the outskirts of New Delhi while shooting her next project, "Eat, Pray, Love."
To start the project on an auspicious note, the actress took part in a Hindu ritual known as a Havan (fire sacrifice). During a Havan, priests offer fruits, ghee (clarified butter) and grains in the fire in honor of the Gods. Chants and hymns accompany the ceremony.
Julia Roberts, along with her four-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, and her two-year-old son Henry, participated in the ritual that was held in Pataudi, approximately 40 miles outside of Delhi. They also attended the mass lunch after the Havan, known as Langar.
It looks like Julia Roberts has gone totally Desi for her new movie, donning a bright purple kurti and black salwar pants on the first day of her shoot. It also has been reported that the actress loves Indian food like mutter paneer, alu gobi and chapattis. While on location, Julia asked to stay at a hotel that includes a unique yogi center.
But Julia apparently forgot to leave all of her Hollywood diva manners in America and brought some with her to India. It has been reported that people are upset that the movie star needs 350 security guards for her and her family during their stay. They say it's preventing villagers from entering the Hindu temple used to celebrate Navratri, as it is part of the location where Roberts is shooting.
But it's always lovely to see American stars embrace the east. We wish Julia Roberts the best of luck on the set of "Eat, Pray, Love."
