We brought you news on Kailash Kher and his seven piece band, Kailasa performing in New York City and now we have the video footage!  The group performed to a packed house at the Association of Performing Arts Presenters conference, titled GlobalFEST held at the Webster Hall night club.  People from all over came out to see the distinguished singer, in fact people even traveled from Europe to watch him live in action!  Kailash Kher and his band weren't the only act, they were joined by twelve different performers, including, Tanya Tagaq, Occidental Brothers Dance Band, Chicha Libre and the Brooklyn Qawwali Party, which adds a jazz-funk twist on the devotional Sufi music of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. 

Kailash Kher and his band definitely stole the night, as John Caramanica wrote in the New York Times, 'The compact Mr. Kher, a noted Bollywood playback singer and judge on 'Indian Idol,' the televised singing competition, was the flashiest and most charming of the night's performers, a star comfortable with stages bigger than the one he had here.' 

It marks another great step towards international fame for Kailash Kher as he's been signed to a North American label, Cumbancha Records, making Kailasa the first Bollywood musical act to be signed directly to a North American label!  However in India it will be released on Sony/BMG.  The album is set to release this summer.  Check out the video footage from the concert below and let us know what you think about Kailash Kher and Kailasa!
