Kailash Kher and his band Kailasa are set to perform at the Association of Performing Arts Presenters conference in New York City this Sunday. The aptly-titled GlobalFEST will be held at the night club Webster Hall in Manhattan and will feature twelve different artists. The event is advertised as a showcase of 'world music.' It is a wonderful opportunity for international artists to reach larger audiences and develop a broader fan base. Kailash Kher is already a huge star in India but is hoping that his performance in GlobalFEST will broaden his audience beyond South Asian fans. I'm sure that once American audiences get a taste of Kailash Kher's musical talents, they will definitely want more!

It seems that Kailash Kher is taking a huge step in the direction of becoming a globally recognized star. He has just signed with Cumbancha Records, making Kailash Kher and Kailasa the first Bollywood musical act to be exclusively and directly signed to a North American label. Cumbancha Records, headed by Jacob Edgar, was named the 2007 World Music Label of the Year. The record will be releasing Kailash Kher and Kailasa albums worldwide, aside from India where the albums will still be released by SonyBMG India. The first album is scheduled to be released this summer. Kailash Kher and Kailasa have also secured representation by the top booking agency in North America, International Music Network (IMN).   IMN World represents some of the top world music and jazz artists in the world. 2009 is looking to be a very good year for Kailash Kher and his band Kailasa!
