The hip hop genius Kanye West is writing a little more than hit tracks these days and this time it's not about his need to shine or about any heartless chick.

Only a few weeks after the King of Pop's death, rumors are flying around about Kanye West wanting to gain the title as the new King of Pop.  This statement has shocked many of MJ's fans, leaving them upset at the rappers insolence.

According to the New York Times daily news, Kanye West claimed "There's nobody who can match me in sales and in respect, so it only makes sense for me to take over Michael's crown and become the new king...first there was Elvis, then there was Michael. Now in the 21st century it's Kanye's time to rule."

We know that most of your are thinking "How rude!" This statement, however, was completely denied later by Kanye on his daily blog, claiming he said nothing like this and this would be the last time he will defend himself.

He said that he had heard the accusation about his desire to take on the title as the new King of Pop on a recent airing of the Wendy Williams Show.

Kanye wrote  "It makes me feel bad that obviously people feel that I would be corny enough to say something so whack after the passing of an idol, a legend and more than that a human being with feelings and family."

Though many acknowledge West as the rapper with the ego, who is always the first to say what he thinks and what he deserves, we wonder if these comments were accurately recorded and Kanye is making a move for the crown, or if someone is just trying to create controversy.

West added "It scares me to think that people will believe, without even a source... I don't talk to press or do TV or promotions on the internet and then the world believes it. I've stopped chasing and buying into fame."

After the uproar that has occured with Kanye West stating (or not) his claim to the throne, it leaves one to wonder if the King of Pop position will ever be open. Is the public mad about Kanye making these statements, or would we be as angry if it were anyone else?
