I joined hundreds of New Yorkers as they headed to the venue Terminal 5 this Saturday to hear the singing sensation, Lady GaGa. Blonde locks, whimsy costumes, and flashy facial décor were all over the young boys and girls emulating the singer and anxious to see her. Terminal 5 is a huge venue with three floors if you don't already know it. You have options to hang out on one of two balconies or the ground floor with the band. The doors opened at 7 PM and Lady GaGa came on about 9 PM after two opening bands.
When the doors opened, the GaGa paraphernalia was the first stop for teens while the rest of us filled the venue. Chester French opened first and all the teen girls went mad. Some of the band wore surgical masks and I flashed back on some bad Halloween moments. White Tie Affair performed next. Their energy matched the room and everyone was ready for it - a great introduction for Lady GaGa.
While we waited for Lady Gaga to emerge, a white curtain was pulled over the stage with a projection of GaGa. The glamour and anticipation was worthy of the chants of her name it elicited. The crowd went mad when she and her dancers came on stage. Lady GaGa puts on a good show with an expressive and gorgeous wardrobe, but it's really her talent that dominates.
She wore a fantastic plastic bubble dress while she played a slow version of "Poker Face" that was truly beautiful. At one point, she played the piano with just one hand and a high-heeled foot banging on the keys. It was awesome. Lady GaGa was having a good time too. At one point, she cheered that she'd been told that things were going well, but she didn't realize how well things are going until now and the crowd roared.
She ended the night with "Just Dance" dressed in glasses with TV screen lenses. The crowd went crazy when they recognized the song intro. Lady GaGa didn't disappoint her fans and came back for the encore with the dance version of "Poker Face." The room was electric as a crowd of hundreds jumped up and down. Lady Gaga put on a great show Saturday night. I'm sure some people are still dancing. Check out that plastic bubble dress in a video clip of her performance below, it's worth seeing!
