Bollywood films, 'Lage Raho Munnabhai' and 'Eklavya', both by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, will be screened at Cannes in France on May 19 and 24 respectively! 'Lage Raho Munnabhai', starring Sanjay Dutt in the lead role, has already bagged several prestigious awards…yes, even with Sanjay in the movie! It will be screened in the Les Cinemas due Monde section, which screens the best of world cinema, on May 19. Similarly, 'Eklavya', a multi-starrer film directed by Chopra, will be screened at Cannes on May 24 in the market section. DesiHits! has just learned that 'Eklavya' is also set for an art house release in the United States this summer! Another small step in exposing Indian cinema to the masses!!! To give you an idea….the Cannes Festival now welcomes over 30,000 accreditees spanning the entire spectrum of the film industry, as well as some 4000 international journalists, making it the biggest and most widely acclaimed film festival in the world.! The role of this highly publicized and aniticipated event is to select and promote films and artists, welcome professionals, develop new artistic initiatives... ultimately, serve cinema in all its infinite dimensions.
