Lil Wayne: MTV's 2008 Man Of The Year

December 19 2008 18:40 PST

Looks like Jay Sean's boy Lil Wayne has '3 Millie' sold for 'Tha Carter III', a new baby son, a bunch of new guitars,8 Grammy nominations, and last but not least named MTV's 2008 Man of The Year. I didn't even know MTV had a man of the year. But it's true.

Along with having an unbelievable year, Lil Wayne beat out British actor Robert Pattinson, Mr. Heartbreak himself Kanye West, T.I., and Nick Jonas to become Man of the Year. Lil Wayne is certainly not your usual candidate, with his constant syrup sipping and forever altering appearance. He certainly doesn't look like or carry himself much like these other guys and comparing him to Nick Jonas is like night and day.

Lil Wayne had this to say to MTV and his fans when he found out he was named Man of The Year, "Thanks to everyone at MTV and shout out to my man (MTV News Hip Hop Editor) Shaheem (Reid)for keeping up on what we do, finally much love to all my fans, I truly do this for you." You can't deny how thankful the man is and if anyone appreciates his accolades it's definitely Lil Wayne.

Hate him or love, Lil Wayne continues to dominate the music world surpassing anyone's original expectations. Who would have thought the kid in Juveniles 'Back That Thang Up' video would show up to the Grammy's with 8 nominations. He's come a long way since those days.

But with all this Man of The Year talk you have to ask yourself one question.  What happened to Barack Obama? Most artists agree that hands down Barack Obama should have taken this one home. After all he is the US's first black president and broke just about the biggest racial barrier down in the world. But hey, he's not more important than the guy who told let the ladies 'Lick the Rapper'.
