The SONA FAMILY is a collective of British South Asians who skillfully combine urban music with their own upbringing as UK Desis. Headed by producer/writer Harry Sona, the Sona Family consists of rapper/singer/producer Mr Riz and DJ/producer JC. The group first burst onto the scene in summer of 2002 with their SONA KAANDAAN mixtape. This first street release was filled with rap songs that gave the Brit-Asian perspective on things. By taking such a fresh approach to rap by integrating their Asian background the group gained an impressive underground and industry following with the release of the highly successful 100 Rupee CD in November 2004. This was the Trailblazerz (the production arm of Sona Family) first mixtape and showcased South Asian talent from the UK, USA and Canada.It also spawned one of the biggest records of 2005....Glassy, feat Hard Kaur. So with the streets, b- b-b- buzzin' from London to Bombay to New York, Sona Family are busy completing their debut album for release in early summer of 2006 with outstanding production from the Trailblazerz
