M.I.A - 'I'm not a terrorist'

M.I.A is not a happy camper. Sri Lankan rapper Delon has accused her of being a part of the LTTE (Liberation Tiger Tamils of Eelam), a well known terrorist group that uses the tiger as their symbol. He disses her in a video that highlights her use of Tiger Tamils paraphernalia and points out her violent lyrics. (The video could not be posted on Desi Hits! due to graphic material)
She's finally spoken out in a statement to Pitchforkmedia.com saying 'As a Sri Lankan that fled war and bombings, my music is the voice of the civilian refugee.' The situation has escalated to the point where M.I.A's management at Interscope Records has sent Delon a cease-and-desist letter forcing Delon to remove the video from his site.
The question remains, why is M.I.A using these symbols when it is known that they are tied to a violent terrorist group?

All who refer the LTTE as freedom fighters are out of their heads. Come to Sri Lanka, study the true history and then comment. WHo ever is supporting the LTTE are terrorists!! Curse them!!

read my post fully 1st vinoda. I am by no means saying the LTTE are not a terrorist group but you have to readup on WHY they exist. The Ceylon (Srilanka) government (Singhalese majority) began to target minority Tamils in the 70s and 80s . Thousands of Tamils were massacred, their property looted, their women raped and their leaders imprisoned thus bringing forward the LTTE and several such 'militant' organisations to fight for the tamil's rights. my point being? both sides has done some fucked up shit... delon is a classic example of a small time wannabe rapper using this situation as a publicity stunt...which he has succeeded at because we are too fickle to make our own decisions.

M.I.A. definitely does not give two shits to Delon, This fool is mad jealous of her success. She's doing more good for charity then tying symbols from her video to gangs. MIA is a freedom fighter singer. Gangsta music makes great warriors. Shit, "the Star Spangled Banner" was a War song. She is only Dirty South Indian to rep her music & culture hard around the globe. Delon is just trying to gain fame all this.
I can easily claim that the LTTE is a freedom fighting group fighting for the equality of the tamils in sri lanka. For desi hits to label the ltte a terrorist group and 'question' why she "using these symbols when it is known that they are tied to a violent terrorist group". WHO the fuck are you to ask her this? She is an artist and is entitled to her freedom of creativity . SHE decided what she wants to sing about and doesnt give two shits about what anyone else thinks..AND THAT is what makes her different.
