MIA's 'Paper Planes' Takes Off

MIA's latest track, Paper Planes is turning out to be her most mainstream track to date and although it's months old, it's gaining a lot of mainstream attention recently. There's no denying she's talented but her music has always been labeled as trendsetting and ahead of her time and it became popular with that crowd.
But lately she's been getting a lot of mainstream radio play and everyone from the hip hop kids on the block to the hipster DJs spinning in the hottest clubs. But the ironic part of it all is that MIA announced her retirement recently (although with the all her recent success we doubt that will happen!) What's all the hype about? YO, she is the most underated artist, and now Santogold is using her Swag to promote in the US. Not hating on Santogold because her and MIA are like best friends, I just think it's F'd up that US accepts a Black girl artist than a Brown girl artist in terms of that culture, style, and genre. That song took 2 years hit mainstream. I don't know who to blame on that, either the industry or the desi scene. Plus the Paper Plane track got mass popularity because it was featured in the recent movie Pineapple Express Trailer. MIA is hot southie! Check out her performance in Philly, she rocked it at a sold out crowd and it happened this year!
