The film is all about Madhuri who returns back to her small hometown Shamli from New York to look after her dying dance guru gets involved in saving the dance theatre where she learned all her moves is about to be pulled down. With some local help Dixit sets out on a mission to save the theatre from Akshaye Khanna who plays the local MP and believes that since there is no use for it anymore its okay to pull the construction down to give way to a mall instead. When Dixit confronts him, he throws her a challenge of arranging a theatre production which will include only the locals and the production's success will decide whether the theatre stays or goes. How she manages to put up her show facing difficulties and what it leads to forms the crux of the film.

Where the film scores is that it shows Madhuri displaying one of her strongest skills – dancing. But one of its strongest points is also its biggest weakness because if you take away Madhuri's dance sequences in the film then you realise that there is nothing more to the film. It is the usual song and dance that B-Town churns out every day. And so for a Yash Raj banner and a star cast as strong as this to be served up with just some natch gaana makes the film a disappointment on the whole. At the end of the day if you are a Madhuri fan and want to revive some old memories of seeing the legend on screen go ahead and watch the film… because there is no other reason to draw you to the cinema!
