Ajay Devgan plays Ashfaque - a small time theatre actor who wants to make it big in the world of films and goes onto achieving his life long dream. But as in the case of most people who get success there are some drawbacks to go with it. Ashfaque over night becomes Samir Khan, goes from struggling actor to superstar and also a self centered, ego centric man who has not time for his wife (Vidya Balan) and little kid. But then one night he sees a murder and although initially he considers staying out of the entire drama by saying he wasn't present, his conscience won't allow him to do so. And then begins the fight of Samir Khan becoming the Ashfaque of yesterday - the one who would speak his mind, wasn't afraid of going after the truth and therefore at the risk of losing all that he wanted and had, he fights against the men and society who try to downplay the murder done by two boys belonging to a high profile family is what the rest of the film is all about.

All in all the film is a good watch. The hit combination of Rajkumar Santoshi and Ajay Devgan works once more and every moment and scene delivered by Devgan feels real and imaginable. You go through the changes in his life with him and when he triumphs you taste victory too. A great performance by one of the most underrated B-Town actors. Vidya Balan didn't bring anything special to the film and her absence wouldn't have been missed either. The big daddy - Pankaj Kapur – is once again brilliant and its an absolute joy for any film fan to see him work his magic on screen… so from us at DesiHits its time to Halla Bol at your closest cinema!
