Movie Review: Nanhe Jaisalmer

September 17 2007 04:58 PST

Cast: Bobby Deol, Master Dwij Yadav and Vatsal Seth Director: Samir Karnik

Nanhe Jaisalmer is a very different movie purely because it isn't anything like what is being churned out of B-Town right now. It's a simple story about a little boy who lacks education but still manages to make it ahead in life through the simple words of wisdom he hears from a leading actor (played by Bobby Deol) whom he considers his best friend.. Bobby teaches him about the way the world functions and gives him some advice which in turn helps the little boy to turn his life around… and become a celebrated writer.

Like we said at the outset this movie lacks any of the melodrama you associate with B-Town. It's a simple story that is told in a simple narrative but still manages to hit you in the right spots. The film shows you the locales of Rajasthan most beautifully and Karnik, the director, has ensured that by the time you leave the theatre you fully understand the message of his film - It is our faith that fuels our imagination and our imagination that realises our faith!
