We are known for getting all access to some of the hottest events in Bollywood. Last night was the premiere of Chandni Chowk to China and we at Desi Hits! wanted to share our VIP pass to the premiere with our Desi Hits College rep, Anil Daibee. Read about his awesome experience as DH! got Anil a seat right next to the man of the moment, Akshay Kumar!
Last night at AMC United Theaters in New York City, one of my dreams finally came true. It was the premiere of Chandni Chowk to China, Nikhil Advani's new flick starring Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone. Being a New York resident and someone who completely idolizes Akshay since I was old enough to remember, I was prepared to try everything in my power to get into that premiere.
Luckily, I didn't have to try very hard, because my wonderful family at Desi Hits hooked me up not only with a pass to the event, but a seat in the reserved section as well. At that point I was ecstatic, but it gets even better - my reserved seat happened to be right next to the big man himself!!!
That's right; I was sitting directly to Akshay Kumar's left. I stood up, faced him, and shook his hand, congratulating him on the movie (I was warned by a certain friend not to gush over him too much)!
In an interview a while back, Akshay Kumar had promised his fans at least one action film a year, and he has most certainly delivered on that promise. Chandni Chowk To China was a perfect balance of action and comedy; neither element was overbearing. Akshay Kumar showed his maturity as an actor, as he portrayed a character very different from his older, invincible action hero persona. Needless to say, his comic timing was impeccable, once again.
The story follows his character, Sidhu, as he struggles to find his destiny. He is thought by the residents of a Chinese village to be a reincarnation of ancient Chinese warrior, and they recruit him to wipe out the tyrant that terrorizes them.
I don't want to spoil too much of the movie, but suffice it to say that this leads to some very well choreographed action scenes, and we all know that no one can do an action scene as well as Akshay Kumar can!
Excellent performance by Deepika Padukone, as well (who sat right behind me); she acted a double role with two very different characters, and nailed both performances. Not to mention a very inspirational Mithun Chakraborty, who is always, albeit lovingly, kicking Akshay Kumar's butt (literally).
The film is also equipped with a very fitting soundtrack. The songs are excellent and they actually tie in very well with the story. And the final song, CC2C with Bohemia, was excellent no matter what anyone says, and proves how versatile of an entertainer Akshay Kumar really is.
The film leaves you with a good message, about how believing in yourself will lead you to accomplish anything, and rest assured that any loyal Akshay Kumar fan will love it. Director Nikhil Advani told the audience before the film started that the entire crew broke their backs to make this film, and it certainly shows.
Premiering at AMC United Theaters is certainly an accomplishment not to be sniffed at. I would certainly recommend this film to anyone, but especially die-hard Akshay Kumar fans. I, of course, watched it in the best way possible, sitting right next to the hero on the screen.

http://www.avstv.com/tv/single.php?c=928 this video has amitabh bachchan's opinion about akshay kumar, he was present at the london premiere. i think he's better qualified to judge akshay kumar than anyone else.
his or her opinion.
there is nothing to talk about except acting of akshay kumar.so no one is posting his opinion.movie is a blunder all over.
Hey guys...I'm sure most of you have seen the movie by now! I'm astonished to see no opinions? Did you like it? Was it up to your expectations? I know some of the scenes were fun but what did you think of the overall movie? Not everything at everytime meets our expectation, I want your reactions!!
all i can say at this point, fanfan, is you are a complete moron.
yeah!i think till now u hav got the message from audience and critics who r offering *1/2 and box office collection which is below 60%.
fanfan, the box office report is gonna rock and the box office report is gonna prove u nd gchikni rong.
khiladi is doing what only a blind fan can do.
the movie is below average in INDIA.i don't need to give any link to justify myself or gchikni coz just wait for its BO report which will come very soon.
UHHH AKKI HATERS (goriyachikni and fanfan and anyone else) here's yet again ANOTHER video of reactions in NEW YORK. doesn't look like anyone disliked it to me. morons. http://www.avstv.com/tv/single.php?c=926
OH CMON!!! i mean fanfan is sooooooo gchikni trying 2 luk lyk she convinced ppl not 2 watch it
Damn Goriyachilkni...u sure proved ur point...I am too seeing bad reviews from dissappointed fans of akshay. It probably isn't much his fault as his acting was great....it's just the way the movie is structured...great concept, just horrible way to put it together...people are still gonna watch it which will make up for the cost but deff not repeat customers...I'm very open minded and don't care if I am wrong and it's not difficult for me to accept the truth...however, I think the fans on this forum are so die heart that they will not honestly express their opinion. Regardless of what they think about the movie, we will get comments like "this was the best movie ever"...I got 2 more tickets for this movie for today but gave them away to friends...I don't think I want to go though with it again...I hope my mans next movie is nothing like this!
i just reead all reviews.thanx gchickni for the gr8 help. i will never wacth it.
I can't stop laughing after reading all the reviews of Chandni Chowk now that its release...just goes to show Desihits is a load of bull. http://inhome.rediff.com/movies/2009/jan/16review-chandni-chowk-to-china.htm http://www.reuters.com/article/reviewsNews/idUSTRE50F15R20090116 http://entertainment.oneindia.in/bollywood/reviews/2009/chandni-chowk-to-china-review-160109.html http://www.kansascity.com/entertainment/story/982878.html http://inhome.rediff.com/movies/2009/jan/16review-chandni-chowk-to-china.htm http://www.kansascity.com/entertainment/story/982878.html http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/movies/chi-chandni-review-0116jan16,0,1174162.story http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/movies/396232_chandi16q.html http://www.philly.com/philly/entertainment/movies/20090116_A__Slumdog__this_one_surely_is_not.html http://www.spicezee.com/articles/story20839.htm http://www.nj.com/entertainment/tv/index.ssf/2009/01/a_messy_pu_pu_platter_of_bolly.html I'd love to hear all your comment now after calling me an Aki hatter. The truth is I like Aki and respect his work but this one sucks period.
OMG THIS GOT SOOO MUCH FEEDBAK!!! LMAOOOOO!!!!! gosshhh will yall just stop hatin! gchikni or wutevr, no1 carez u dont lyk it, no1z not gonna watch it cuz of u, so sorry but ur sabotage didnt work!
:| .. pls
Fazli, I respect your opinion which comes across as far more balanced. It is hard to categorize Akshay's movies since he is a genre of his own. On the very look Welcome & SIK seem very dumb movies but in the end they had their entertainment quotient. I personally didn't like either of them but I don't consider myself more intelligent than millions of people who flocked to the cinema halls to watch them. In the end it is left to the viewers to decide what they want. Going by the hype, CC2C is going to open huge & very likely to end up as superhit.
GChikni, I don't need to ask anyone as to how big Macon is. But, its review seems more credible then TamashaOnline that has already proclaimed the movie as flop even before a single soul has seen it in India, or Jhatka Matka that is more interested in criticizing Akshay's shades than talk about his movie. Also, 3/5 is considered a good rating universally. I seriously doubt if you are any critic since you don't even know such trivial things. Let me brief you on the ratings scale, 1/5 - Poor, 2/5 - Average, 3/5 - Good, 4/5 - v.Good, 5/5 - Excellent. That is the standard followed everywhere. Also, if the movie got a 3/5 why are you attempting so hard to downgrade it. Why don't you give a link to your own reviews? Movies or entertainment do not have any ISO certification. They are left to an individuals taste buds. You didn't like the movie.. fine with us but why are you going over the top to mortify the film? Do you have certain vested interest in bringing down the movie? But still, if you want to debate then give us some proper links to reviews. Not some sensational headlines from a cheap 2 cents website proclaiming the movie to be a flop when it hasn't been released yet.
Ops...I meant Bollywood and Hollywood...typing on an iPhone stinks...
This thread is hilarious!! We should all shutup till Friday...if the movie turns out to be a superhit, I'll have to sit back and re-define to myself "what a good movie" is? lol...everyone has different tastes and opinions...just because I didn't like it doesn't mean it's a horrible movie...I look for a theme, plot and action in a Hindi film...and one should never compare Hollywood with Hollywood...CC2C has a lose plot structure which causes confusion and this makes it seem ridicolous at times...if you consider CC2C on a strict comedy basis, it has plenty of funny scenes to makes it watchable...I also didn't like the transition of the funny akshay to the serious revengeful one...it was too quick and seemed off
hello askhay i'm yam hoping 2 be ur frien n can i have ur add n my is yam_20052005@yahoo.com
lolz haha gchikni it will be such a pleasure to see ur face when this movie turns out a huge success..u should be ashamed of urself trying to sabotage a movie without even seeing it!! All the official websites are saying itz good and there u r still with ur stupid agenda! guyz watch this extended version from avstv..ppl are praising the movie wholeheatredly not a single bad reaction: www.avstv.com whats more exciting is that all racial types are loving it! BTW GCHINKNI WHY DONT U REVEAL WHICH MEDIA ARE FROM YEAAH I C U HAVE AVOIDED THAT QUESTION FROM US LOLZ AHAHA?IF U WERE FROM THE PRESS WHY DONT WE C UR REVIEW???!!GIVE US AN OFFICIAL SOURCE AND WE WILL GLADLY READ LOLZ HAHA SHAME ON U SRKFANS NOW CONTINUE TO WATCH AKKI RISE AND SHOW HIS GLOBAL PRESENCE!
only speak about why trying to criticise RNBDJ or Ghajini while they hav scored good and somewhere in the US.Review of CC2C is on .so fight on it.
Why don't u ask desi hits if how big Macon is? If the movie got a 3/5 why do u wanna hype it to be a 5/5. FYI 3 is the average of 1 and 5 and hence considered average by any wildest imagination if u studied maths The rating scale is 3 average 4 good 5 excellent. and reviewers wud give a .5 in between at time. I agree Jhatka Matka talks about Akshays sun glasses but they do mention in the same article that the movie was a flop. TamashaOnline on the other hand doesn't talk about Akshays sun glasses but talks in detail about the movie. And their heading says it all. And Im no longer gonna carry out this conversation because you'll see for urself on Friday.
OK!!! So now Macon can be purshased to give a good review but you can't be since you are a reincarnation of Buddha? Honestly, I've never seen anybody attempt so hard. What are the chances that you havn't been purchased to spread bad WoM about the movie? The desperation that you display in your posts makes it clear that you are merely attempting to sabotage the movie. Anybody else would've just posted his/her views and walked away instead of bothering so hard to prove somebody wrong. 3/5 is considered universally good.. FYI, 2/5 is average & NO!!! neither Ghajini nor Rab de got better reviews. Rab ne did not even get 3/5 by majority of Indian critics forget about US/Canadian critics giving that high a rating. And please, don't give me those TamashaOnline & Jhatka Matka that seem more interested in knowing why Akshay was wearing sun glasses at NYC premiere.
Macon ??? Well clearly ur not in the US of A coz Macon has never been heard of. Did my research and Its a local publication based out of Georgia which means nothing. you can pay 10 such magazine to write about it. And Arman Chopra is not a fictitious character but someone who does work for WB and at a high level. Call them up to verify. If I didn't attend the premier then how do i know every little details about the movie. Besides what u don't realise is that there is Indian media in the US, Canada and so many other countries yet there has nothing been published by Indians living outside. When did 3 out 5 be considered good?? Thats considered avergage FYI. I havent' seen either Rab ne or Ghajini but they definitely got better reviews in the US. Also I looked just as hard u did to find reviews and info and here u go http://www.tamashaonline.com/ http://www.jhatkamatka.com/ There's another one that I read on the OneIndia website but I cn't find it now. will look for it again. ABout my linguistics - This is what you wrote : "since your seem linguistically up to the mark to write for press." nd "you are simply making your self look like a fool." Please don't expect me to correct you and ur grammar. I'm writing on a comment sections for chris sake so I'm not gonna bother to proof read what I write and correct spelling.
GChikni, nobody gives a hoot about your opinion since it clearly reeks with an agenda. You are making a very vain and desperate attempt to show how the whole thing was a failure when Rimon here has even posted a video link which goes against your claim. Nobody here knows Arman Chopra unless he is some fictitious character created by you. Here read the first review from American Magazine here "http://www.macon.com/239/story/584248.html". A good 3 star out of 5. Even Rab ne & Ghajini didn't get that high from US press. So, I'll take their words anytime over you. I seriously doubt if you attended any premiere or even write any reviews for press since your seem linguistically up to the mark to write for press. Please stop trying too hard.. you are simply making your self look like a fool.
I wouldn't describe the movie as "shit"...that's a hate word...I did not expect to stand outside for 45min on the coldest day of the month!! LOL...for the love of akshay's movie, I did! If I knew, I would have come dressed for the cold...by the time deepika arrived (she arrived first), I was stiff frozen...damn windchill had all the innocent cursing...lol...I hope no one got sick...this was the only time I regretted coming to an event early...I guess I'm just a dissappointed fan ;(
nd about public reaction on camera. Its not a continuos phase of reactiong. You interview so many people and then air the reactions of only the ones you choose. And to prove my point I'm posting this again Arman Chopra who works for warner brother in India a day after the American premier on facebook Armaan " The american premiere of "chandni chowk to china" was totally lacklustre ,could have done a better job ." And this was his status yesterday : Armaan is hoping 'it works' coz shit works in bollywood. haha."
and yes Fazil is right. They held people who had tickets outside so that they looked like fans waiting anxiously for Akshay and Deepika when in reality no one cared that much. The people waiting outside were the 350 odd people who had tickets (not VIP reserved seats) A reported who writes for OneIndia even complained of the same. He had come to thr premier with his wife and the least he was expecting was such treatment.
Bushroda When people walk out and there's a whole row of seats empty and remain empty for the rest of the Movie. You know they didn't come back. And a bunch of people don't go to the rest room together...even women don't do that in theaters. And they were just the start of the walkouts. I didn't wanna post this here but since u guys are playing ur shitty little game this was the facebook status of Arman Chopra who works for warner brother in India a day after the American premier. Armaan " The american premiere of "chandni chowk to china" was totally lacklustre ,could have done a better job ." And this was his status yesterday Armaan is hoping "it works " coz shit works in bollywood. haha." I've taken screen shots of the same just incase he deletes in after reading this. I write for a monthly magazine. ul read reviews when the publication comes out but everyone knows Warner Brothers are hugely disappointed because they've invested so much into this crap film. And I'm personally disappointed because after Chandni Chowk Warner Brothers may not invest as much as it intended to in Indian films.
GUYS CHECK THIS LINK FIRST OFFICIAL LINK FROM A BOLLYWOOD WEBSITE ITZ A VDO BLACK WHITE CHINESE INDIANS THEY ALL LOVED IT NOT A SINGLE BAD REACTION.I DONT UNDERSTAND THIS AGENDA THAT AKKIHATERZ LIKE GCHIKNI HAVE: http://broadband.glamsham.com/chandani-chowk-to-china/new-york-premiere-video_7ad979b38.html
bushroda -- the action scenes WERE amazing!!! i would definitely say very well choreographed and obviously when performed by akki look great! deepika did a really good job as well!
I only registered on here to post in this thread because I was curious as to what others were saying about this movie...I found Desihits on google!! I'm not a hater or part of any press...just saw the premier and did not really like the movie. I expected bollywoods first Kung foo movie to be more than just random action. Picturization and acting was great but the movie was all around the place...and that's just the truth. Even jackie chan's movies have somewhat of a defined plot...in a good note, you can call this movie stupid funny (in a good way)...I don't know maybe I expected too much from a movie that took two years to make and being one of the first to feature the great wall of China. As for people leaving, It did happen...a few I personally know...when I asked them why didn't they stay? They said it wasn't clicking for them after the scene where akshay leaves for china...I think people are making it seem like 50 people left and that wasn't the case...capacity seemed like 400+ and maybe 20 people left! Again u really can't hate on the movie, as it had some great comedy scenes...I cracked up plenty of times...I just don't think I want to see a movie like this again or that it will be a blockbuster...my 2 cents Oh and they purposely held us outside the theater in 15 degree Temps just so people would be there to greet akshay and deepika...I was pissed cause I was a frozen popcicle...I would have loved to cheer inside...lol...many people were pissed but I guess this was the only way to have a crowd outside to cheer!
Thanks Khiladi!!! This isn't any new treand. This has been happening for a while. On a certain superstar's forum there are quite a many who attempted to spread such rumours during Welcome & SIK release. The fact is, there are good number of people who are praying for CC2C to flop so that their favorite star can remain unchallenged. GChinki & co are taking a step forward & actually making an attempt to dissuade few netizens from watching movie. It is no wonder why you find so many of these "I was there & I saw people leaving in first fifteen minutes" kind of people. Going by the title anybody can guess that CC2C is not attempting to be a Mughal-E-Azam. It is supposed to be a fun filled laughathon where certain situations can even be forced to create humour. At the end whatever makes you forget your stress in your daily lives & engages you for few hours is a good entertainer. BTW, I wasn't there in any of the premieres but whatever I've got to hear from sources is that action scenes are superb, never seen in any other bollywood movie. Is it correct?
thanks bushroda!! glad there are people like u that see reason!
Has there been anyone else ho saw people walking out of movie? Honestly, I find this whole "I saw people leaving in first 20 mins" business very fishy. How does one know that somebody walked out and didn't walk back in after taking a leak. And, why would somebody walkout simply after the first 20 mins when even the credits havn't rolled properly? This clearly suggests that those talking of such things have a certain agenda of their own. I have only four words for gchinki & co. "Don't try too hard". Even Welcome & SIK were rubbish but they turned out huge blockbusters & great entertainer. So is CC2C going to be.
I'm not an Akshay fan and I don't really like him all that much but I think I'll watch the movie when it comes out on DVD because I do like Deepika. But wow it's cool that you got to meet him Anil.
wow i'm glad i'm getting so much discussion under my article :) haha, and thanks for saying that sanam, that was me!! and the two chicks next to me were anita and pooja and the guy next to them was jay gatzby, all from desihits as well!
thanx sanam for ur post!let us know what u thought abt the movie!
I was at the premiere, I pulled out my camera and managed to get a shot before the big security guard Akshay was with made us all stop, so I could see why it was difficut to get a shot. I was obeserving what was going on the whole time since I am a huge Akki fan. When Akki and his wife first walked in a younger guy with jeans and a longer sleeve green t-shirt wash sitting right next to him, so maybe that was Anil? Then there were two chics next two the guy and then another younger guy next to them. They switched seats mid way so two uncles were next to him later. But I think I spotted you Anil!
uluv33 mate if gchikni is from the press and if hes writing reviews why havent we seen yet.....i mean its been such a long time since the premier and im yet to find an official press review and this guy is claiming hes from the press..i agree with u luv33 completely
goria...are you from the press? and from which one? or are you too chicken to admit it?
BTW GCHIKNI U HAVE PROVEN WHAT A BIG LIAR U ARE IM A REGULAR IMDB MEMBER AND IT HAS NO REVIEW YET.....U CAN FIND 3 REVIEWS ON THEIR MESSAGE BOARD AND ITZ ALL POSITIVE ....ANYONW WHOS AN IMDB MEMBER IS WELCOME TO C THIS!!!
i comptely agree with u tweet......looks like this gchikni is in a group of one here!!
gchikni i feel sorry for u!ur hatred is clear for everyone to c as uluv33 states the link u posted consistes of fake voters who submitted arting evn wihtout watching or may be its u urself who knows lolz haha ur clearly biased and have an agenda...well so far i have seen 3 genuine reviews and they r all good....so prepare to hide gchikni coz akki is coming!!and btw u think im a staff memmber i wish mate..lolz what a theory uve come up with???
o and i just checked you source...notice all the dates...most of them are pre Jan 7/8, so how could these people have watched the movie to comment on it...and the rest of the responses are "dont care" not so much as a no.
i saw sahara, cnn-ibn, jus punjabi, tv asia and amny others...dude..i glanced inside those black curtains and cameras and tv crews were everywhere...but how do you know? are you from the press?
Well yes I have to look at IMDB profiles of actor who no one knows. CC2C tried really hard to get American actors to the premier. ABC was not present because if u work in the business you know there's a media section. The new channels present at New York were Times Now and AVSTV and 1 other Indian channel. This is not just my opinion but the general opinion Informationa from fandango Fans Who've Seen It Must Go! 2 Go 0 So-so 3 No 1 Oh No! 5 Source : http://www.fandango.com/movies/1/moviefanreviews.aspx?pn=7&mid=121750 And 52 our of 53 people NO to the movie on Fandango. And yes Bollywood is about fantasy and who says I hate that? But this movie has no fantasy whatsoever. It has stupidity. And tweet its not just my opinion but most people who watched the movie
like i said goria...leave your sarcy brain behind...didnt you read what i wrote...this is Bollywood...not Indie cinema...Bollywood is all about fantasy and sheer entertainment...so take a chill pill and enjoy it for what it is. How do you KNOW ABC was not present? are you from ABC? And if you have to look at IMDB profiles to know who certain actors are, then you really arent all that are you!
goriyachickni, ur a moron! wth cant ppl lyk this movie? is ur opinion the only one and the rite one? no, it is not! evry1z entitled to their own opinion and so r u, but dont talk crap. rspatel, stop hatin u just wish u got 2 sit next 2 akshay kumar!
www.avstv.com, they should put it up there soon..i saw it on the broadcast Saturday. Who is RAHUL WALIA? and Touchdown Media?
1. Why did I not leave? Well my job is to write movie reviews. Thats what I get paid for. So no matter how much I hate a movie I always have to sit through it. 2. ABC wasn't present. Period. 3. Reuters and UPI are stock photography houses/publications. Since ur ignorant about how media works stock photography houses are present at almost any large scale eveent coz they can sell the pics at least to some magazine/newspaper in India through their stock website. So they are not considered American media. 4. Vincent Piazza is not a known identity. Look at his IMDB profile. He has just a few guest roles in TV shows here and there which thousands of other actors have. Ginger Kroll yes because she plays one of the leads in Notorious which released a day before and has a few other movies coming out. But she came with her Indian boyfriend. 5. IMDB has a lot of bad reviews about the movie. I have no clue what dream world ur living in. I think rimon and FazilS85 are either associated with the movie. ANd the few good comments on IMDB could well be from people part of the cast/crew "here's I'm comment " No, no, no, this is blatant rubbish. Kung Fu Panda wasn't rubbish at all actually, I love the fact that they had philosophical overtones in a kid's movie and the choreography was amazing. " And there are people trying to defend it who I'm sure are either the pr firm or the cast/crew themselves.
PS ULUV33 DID U MEAN AVSTV?CAN U PLZ GIVE US A LINK?IM DYIN TO C MORE GENUINE REACTIONS!!THANX IN ADVANCE
hey uluv thanx sooooo much for ur comments bro! i agree with u if gchikni hated the movie why not leave as well and its very rare ppl pay for movies annd leave within first 20 mins(unless ofcourse for circumstances like fazli mentions the evnt was ovebooked and ppl were forced to leave). Anyways ur and anils comments are genuine and in addition im also seeing positive review on imdb by a respected memeber which ive posted here!!looks like the moviw will rock and akkihaterz like gchikni and rspatel will have to hide!!can wait for the movie to release and be a blockbuster!! ANYONE ELSE ATTENDED THE PREMIER???UR COMMENTS ARE MOST WELCOME!!!
A Roundeye Kick to Haters! Haiiii-ya! CC2C is sheer Bollywood resurgence! Got a chance to watch it at the snazzy New York Premiere on 42nd street, which had Akshay, Deepika and Nikhil Advani in attendance. Seemed like the mother of all premieres, as it seems to be well in advance of the movie’s release next week. Advani must be really confident of his product - and rightfully so. The film was hardcore comedic desi masala with a side of lo mein. Akshay Kumar is now a genre of his own - especially his brand of humor which appeals from front-benchers to the elitists. Technically, this has got to be one of the more superior projects to emerge out of Bollywood. The martial arts sequences, the eye-caressing shots of the Great Wall (did you know this is the first flick ever to be shot there? EVER!? DAym!). Don’t expect a brilliant storyline or a gripping plot. CC2C is like how Austin Powers would do Enter the Dragon. Sheer madness and insanity. Comic-bookish - so please leave that condescending and sarcy brain of yours at home, which always goes to watch a Bollywood movie to mock it afterwards for “weak storylineâ€, “sequences were difficult to believeâ€. Arrey? Its a fantasy movie about a cook from Chandni Chowk who gets sucked into being the reincarnation of a Chinese Warrior, and eventually saves a village. Do you know anyone who can say, “Hey, that happened to my brother-in-law, last week!â€. I mean, please. Just goin for the laughs, enjoy the over-the-top-ness, savor the superior production quality that Bollywood lovers will soon get used to, as more corporate houses like Warner Bros emerge on the desi scene. Hardcore recommendation! Watch CC2C. It rocks! Haiiiiii-ya! As far as people walking out, i saw a few, and that could easily have been for reasons best known to them. Gorichikni, why didnt you walk out if you hated it so much? Did anyone catch AVS, they had commenst from people as they ewalked out and there was not ONE single negative remark. Also, there were two American actors, not one....Ginger Kroll and Vincent Piazza that I saw. There was a bunch of American media, inclusing CNN, Reuters, ABC, UPI, and a bunch of photographers as the pictures are all over the internet...do a search.
wth is happening below?!
has anyone else attended the premier?if so plz can u share ur experience with us?how was the movie?did the audience like it?thanx in advance
its funny you say you sat next to akshay kumar because i was sitting one row in front of him with some people from touchdown media and the people sitting next to akshay were 3 uncles and he left 1/2 hour after the movie started so idk what ya'all are talking about lol why do you guys try to make it out like you're always in the spotlight when you're not...i mean okay you were at the press conference and premiere but don't say you sat next to akshay unless your writer was one of the three uncles lol
Hey Khiladi! Forgot to congratulate you on finally meeting him! I was busy at work around noon so did not get to attend the press conference but then brought my camera to the screening but couldnt get a pic with Akki or Deepika :(...I wasn't lucky enough to sit next to him!! Instead i was a frozen Popsicle waiting outside for this arrival!!
Unfortunately i agree with goriyachikni. I too attended Rahul Walia's event and love akki but the movie was a miss. Expecting a lot from the movie, I was disappointed. A lot of people did leave within 1 hr because I had a non-reserved seat in the back with a clear view. My ticket was reserved but the event was wayy over booked with 20-30 people standing (they were later asked to leave due to fire safety). It was my first red carpet event for a Hindi film and the security was crazy. It was announced that night vision goggles would be used throughout the film and they WERE. The person next to me got warned just because he took out his iphone to txt. The movie is FUNNY in a dry sarcastic way...and is nothing spectacular. The action was very childish at times and seemed very OVER done. At times, the director makes you feel that over acting is done on purpose to add a comical feel but it didnt do it for me. Another thing I did not like was how the movie mixed comedy scenes with serious emotional ones randomly. As Rimon said, some actions scenes were done nice with lots of english style special fx but since the plot was weak, it did not do much for the movie. Akki is still No.1 but sorry this movie is 0. I guess you guys can judge it for yourself next week when it releases.
anil many thanx for ur posts dont worry abt this gchikni dude hes obviously an akkihater tryin to sabotage the film.btw here some more comments from imdb: The audience was mainly laughing a lot throughout the movie. I think kids will love this film a whole lot. Its very clean with no vulgarity or double meaning jokes etc. It has a lot of slapstick right at the beginning but the opening sequence & other action sequences are breathtaking. For the first 10 mins, i was thinking... oh here we go again... but then the story really takes off and is interspersed with some spectacular fight sequences. Deepika's entry scene in China really stood out. My favorite scene was Akshay having just trained in kung fu fighting a bunch of goons where diamonds are being smuggled. That really felt like an English film. There are some special fx in places but they're well done. A lot like kung fu hustle which this movie is like. I keep thinking the end could have been better but the audience seemed to enjoy it. Also I love the song tere naina but its there for only a minute or so which kinda bugged me. I think I'll watch this again for the action though. I still can't believe they pulled off the kung fu sequences. he was also asked abt its bo prospects: It should definitely be a huge hit. At least it deserves to be cos its a good fun film. Not many movies these days deliver on their expectations and this one did for me anil its lookin good for us akkifans what do u say friend time for akkihatrs such as gchikni to dissapear!!
and also goriyachikni, two other members of the DesiHits team were with me, including Jay Gatzby, who can vouch for all the whistles and cheering MULTIPLE TIMES for akki and the other stars. there was plenty of it, so go get your ears cleaned out.
goriyachikni, idk who you saw leaving the theater but i believe it was packed until the very end. what do u mean the action scenes were unnecessary? clearly you didn't follow the plot of the movie very well, and if you didn't find it funny then you didn't understand the jokes. So don't hate on Akshay just because you are incompetent. And glad to help, rimon!! And thank you for addressing this ignorant user goriyachikni and posting the other review!
awesum article anil!! xD ur dream finally came true lyk thegangsteryaar sed!!!
well goryachikni lolz haha ur hatred against akki is clearly shown in ur post and btw no actor turned up in la premier they were all warner executives and mcg who is a director so get ur facts right(i couldnt care less if hwood actors came to c it anyways) heres another reviewer from imdb: Saw this today at a special screening. I really loved the movie. The action sequences are the best I've ever seen in an Indian movie. No one except Akshay Kumar could have pulled this off. I think he has finally arrived outside of comedy with this movie, although he has a lot of comic moments too. Deepika is good too. It was good to see a heroine doing more than just looking pretty and singing songs. She really did a good job. But I loved Gordon Liu more than anything. He is pure evil. Great to see the master back in action. My complaint with the movie was the ending... it could have been longer and I would have liked to see more action but overall I liked what they did with the story. They had a plot and did something with it. The songs are well shot and not much of a hindrance. The movie is a visual extravaganza. Overall a terrific entertainer. 9/10 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1091229/board/thread/127304316 its u who will soon have to accept cc2c success......r u paid by srk to do this kind of sabotage???very unfortunate!!!
Hey Rimon. I have nothing against Akshay I think he's hot and a good actor otherwise. But CC2C was bad and Akshay was bad in it too. And please ask anyone else who watched the premier who was not sitting next to Akshay. Notice how the LA premier had at 7 American actors. They had high expectations. The NY premier had 1 American actor. And no American media was present. The night before Notorious had premier at the same location. Look at how many celebrities showed up for that on a wednesday night.I'm only stating the facts. Besides people leaving the cinema within 20 mins of the film explains a lot doesnt it? There were no whistles and claps as khiladi stated except for one moment in the movie and I think that was when Deepika is doing the Miss TMZ and it was just a few whistles. The movie was a disaster. You'll acknowledge that sooner or later. This movie is definitely no blockbuster and has 0 potential to make as a crossover.
hey anil thanx alot for ur comments!i certainly trust u! and goriyachikni ur comments reeks of a certain agenda against akshay unfortunately...i dont understand why u need to make such remarks!!
Sorry! its "level" not "nlevel" spl mstk....
good luck Akshay Kumar.....hope u up ur nlevel after this movie .......a bit close to SRK....
Great article Khiladi your dream finally came through man... you met your idol
BTW, Photography was permitted for media personnel. Just not inside the theater (which is the norm with any movie screening)
How much did u get paid to write this??? I was at the premier and the movie sucked!! Action film??? Yes there was action...a lot of it whenever unwarranted. And did u not notice people leaving the theater in the first 30 mins? Maybe because u were too starstruck to notice the reality. If a movie sucks you obviously cannot fo up to a star and tell him it sucked so u did the right thing in congratulating him but the movie sucked. Period. You call it action? it didn't fit any genre. It looked like a mish mash. It tried and a bit too hard to be a comedy but failed miserably. And what was the purpose of having a premier in New York? To take Bollywood to the next level? It failed at that too miserably. Most of the press was Indian and had flown down from India. No American media showed up except the stock photographers. And the only American star who came to the event was Ginger Kroll who came with her Indian model boyfriend Lavrenti which makes me think that she only came because her boyfriend is Indian and wouldn't have cared otherwise.
gr8 article khiladi!! gud review, ur so lucky u got 2 sit next 2 akshay!!
hi, rimonarsania! well to answer those questions, the audience reaction was excellent for the most part -- they were constantly laughing, and also applauding and whistling for akki and deepika in their moments of glory during the film. much applause at the end of the film, as well. as for crossover potential, i actually think it does have plenty. it's definitely not your stereotypical bollywood film; the action scenes are certainly up to par and i think the comic timing would be appreciated by american audiences. and i am predicting it will DEFINITELY be a blockbuster. you can see all the excellent elements it has to offer from my review, and combined with akshay's star power right now, as he has definitely worked his way to the top of bollywood right now, i think we can expect a huge box office success.
hi anil thx sooooooooo much for ur comments.....i have been looking for reviews all over the net but couldnt find any!!I have a few questions for u: 1)How was the audience reaction? 2)do u think it has crossover potential? 3)Do u think it will be a blockbuster? look forward to ur answers. Thanx again for the review!
yea naina, they didn't allow any pictures!!! it sucked!!!
u got a seat next to akshay kumar and no pictures???
