Photos: Bollywood Stars Vote in Mumbai Assembly Elections

Yesterday the streets of Mumbai were all abuzz as stars like  Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra all showed up to vote in the city’s assembly elections.

We already told you that Salman Khan has gone political. The "Wanted" star has been spotted around town actively campaigning for Baba Siddiqui, the former Minister of Maharashtra from the ruling Congress Party. So I guess we know who Salman voted for!

As for the other Bollywood big shots who showed up at the voting booth, we don’t know who they supported in this race but, we do have proof that they voted as they all pointed their fingerprints in the air.

Shahrukh Khan seized the occasion to speak about the issues closest to his heart, cleanliness, infrastructure and the economy, while Aamir Khan said he wanted "a leader who does not rule on the basis of caste or creed." Amitabh Bachchan, who most recently was seen promoting his new movie Aladin in which he plays the Genie, came with his wife Jaya. Big B’s son Abhishek Bachchan and wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were noticeably absent.

"Blue" actor turned activist Sanjay Dutt, who was appointed National Secretary General by the Samajwadi party earlier this year, voted with his wife Manyata who said she voted only to exercise her right to do so because she believed expectations "are never fulfilled." Wow! Have some hope! As for Priyanka, her vote was as secret as her face as she hid behind a pair of oversized sun glasses.

celluloid stars must become positive role models for a country/city's citizens. increasing voter turnout since last three municipal assembly elections have shown us that in Mumbai despite being a typical low voter turnout city. Its better to vote & whine than whine without voting. At least your voice will be heard & your opinions of matter counts. Jago re jago re jago re...( thanx Tata Tea). Be the active agent of change & destiny instead of being a passive recipient of fate.Jai Mumbai. Jai Maharashtra, Jai Hind.
