Jay Gatzby has over 8 years of experience in the entertainment industry and is currently the Marketing Director for DesiHits.com, the #1 South Asian music & entertainment portal in the world.  In his present role, Gatzby leads the marketing department in an array of innovative campaigns that bring to life the essence of the Desi Hits! brand.  Bridging the gap between the NRI culture in North America and the UK with the Indian Sub-Continent, Gatzby connects the affluent young South Asian demographic with the trends and multiple channels of content that only Desi Hits! provides.  He combines his urban music industry savvy with his relationships with the who’s who of the South Asian urban music scene to forge the personality that is Gatzby on the wildly infectious Corner Radio show with co-hosts Akshay & Kunal M.  The show brings its listeners exclusives, interviews and the inside the industry – ear to the streets information that one can only have if they are truly connected. 

Prior to his current position, Gatzby worked in the promotions department at Bad Boy Entertainment and also served as Vice President of Business Development for Power Moves Marketing & Promotions, the in house promotional arm for Bad Boy Entertainment and Sean John Clothing.  His role charged him with the goal of achieving radio, club and mixtape play for the label’s artists.  His role also required the management of national street teams that handle grassroots promotions for artists in over 32 markets across the US.  Gatzby also focused on forging partnerships with clients looking for innovative urban promotions campaigns that build entertainment brands through several marketing mediums. 

Gatzby began his career in the music business as a DJ at the University of Michigan where he co-founded Komposit Entertainment.  The company quickly became the icon for urban music, entertainment and diversity on Michigan’s campus.  It developed over time into the premier promotions and booking agency for South Asian urban talent representing Raghav, Sona Family, The Bilz & Kashif, DJ Kayper and Blitzkrieg. 

Furthermore, as a South Asian dedicated to breaking boundaries and providing opportunities for his community he co-founded Alpha Iota Omicron, the first South Asian interest fraternity in the Midwest at The University of Michigan.  After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, Gatzby began his pursuit of the unconventional South Asian and chose to follow an uncertain career path in urban music. 

As a South Asian American, Jay Gatzby has experienced the traditional social constructs that his culture mandates, but has risen above them with an endless amount of ambition, drive and courage.  He understands his role as a pioneer within the music industry and actively encourages other South Asians to pursue their true American dream.
