"Rang Rasiya" Screened at London's 52nd Film Festival

November 14 2008 20:15 PST

"Rang Rasiya" is the latest bi-lingual Bollywood film, but this one's a bit different from the rest, as it had the honor of being screened at the 52nd London Film Festival!  The stars of the film, Randeep Hooda and Nandana Sen where present to walk the red carpet and represent their film.  The film was screened alongside the much buzzed about "Slumdog Millionare" and Randeep tells us it was received well.  "rang Rasiya" has also been screened at film festivals in Cannes and Venice.

The Ketan Mehta directed film is described as a sensuous love story of great Indian painter Raja Ravi Varma and his muse, Sugandha.  The film follows Varma from his early life in Kerala to his life in the British Bombay.  It's said that there he starts Indian modern art and helps the independent movement.  But once he meets his muse their love affair is reflected in his art, which religious leaders find way to erotic and thus dangerous and Varma is taken to court for blasphemy!  The film is slated to release this December.
