Wouldn't it be crazy awesome to be a part of a red carpet, black tie fundraiser event to kickoff the presidency of Barack Obama? For those who live in the United States and are willing to spend a big chunk of money, the dream can now be a reality. Russell Simmons, the mastermind behind the Hip-Hop Inaugural Ball, didn't build his hip-hop empire by doing nothing and now he's teaming up with two major companies recognized by young people all over the world, MySpace and Heineken, to host the inaugural ball in honor of President-elect Barack Obama who will be inaugurated on January 20th, 2009. Russell Simmons was an integral component in the election, not only making the importance of voting for the first black president known, but by also getting young voters excited and involved in the voting process. The inaugural ball is just the icing on the cake.

Simmons said, 'The Hip-Hop Inaugural Ball will be a fantastic gala and upscale party in celebration of Barack Obama being inaugurated President of the United States,' which is the most exciting part of the party. What a celebration it will be! The evening's hosts will include Russell Simmons himself and T.I., LL Cool J, and Young Jeezy. Perhaps President-elect Barack Obama will also make an appearance at the black tie affair. The hip-hop gala is going to be an amazing event which takes place in Washington, D.C. on January 19th. The event will include an awards presentation and the gala itself which will take place in all four levels of The Harman Center for the Arts building. With such big names like Russell Simmons, Heineken, and MySpace backing the event, it's sure to be well advertised and well attended by many celebrities. We know it will be an ultra hip success!
