Masterful desi musician ‘Roc’ (Racquel Zonte) is an Indian-American guitarist, singer and songwriter that has jammed with the likes of Jeff Beck and Eddie Van Halen. A Chicago native, she moved to California in her teens and has become a phenomenal lead guitarist! She’s been referred to as the female Lenny Kravitz AND compared to Blondie, the Pretenders and Gwen Stefani. Not too many women can play lead guitar (i.e., Jimi hendrix, Eddie Van halen, U2 (Edge), but this young desi artist has accomplished all of that. She has also played all the instruments on her upcoming CD except for the drums...her sound is raw, energetic and creative. Her latest song ‘Bhangra Boy’ is an infectious groove bringing her back to her heritage, a combination of east meets west. This dance floor ditty is a must hear! She’s been interviewed in many magazines i.e., Guitar Player, Cosmo, Seventeen, etc. for her musical skills, fashion style, and most importantly her songwriting.
