So How Good Did Shahrukh And Gauri Khan Look On The Red Carpet?

By now everyone knows that the Baadshah of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan, was a presenter at the 66th Annual Golden Globes this past Sunday. And if you haven't heard, have you been living under a rock?!  Well in case you haven't, Shahrukh presented the four time award winning film 'Slumdog Millionaire' alongside the beautiful star of the film, Freida Pinto.  As Shahrukh Khan stepped on to the stage, you could hear over the PA system, 'Please welcome the King of Bollywood Shahrukh Khan!'  Whether you're a fan of Shahrukh Khan or not, it was pretty hard not to feel proud of him and how he helped put Bollywood on the map that night.  The best part of his presentation had to be that he stayed true to his charismatic and confident persona.  He joked, laughed, and showed off those trademark dimples as he smiled and blew a kiss to an American actress in the audience.

Shahrukh Khan wasn't alone though as he walked the red carpet!  The Baadshah was joined by his wife Gauri Khan and director Karan Johar, who is in Los Angeles with SRK to shoot his new film, 'My Name is Khan,' co-starring Kajol.  So the question is how did the trio do on the style tip?  Shahrukh Khan sported a sleek black suit but instead of a traditional tie, he opted for a shiny black one which he tucked into his white dress shirt.  Not the best choice!  While it didn't look horrible, I wish Shahrukh would've worn an elegant tie to go along with the formal theme of the night. although it was kind of cool that he took a risk.

Now, Gauri on the other hand is a different story!  Her shimmering neutral/nude/silver saree stayed within the theme of many Hollywood stars like, Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Demi Moore, Beyonce, America Ferrera, Penelope Cruz, Vanessa Hudgens, Sandra Bullock, and Elizabeth Banks.  It was understated, yet a smart choice, unlike the gaudy sarees that Aishwarya Rai got so much flak for wearing at Cannes a few years ago.  The hair and the makeup was a different story though!  Her hair looked over the top and I was so tempted to pull those ridiculous looking bangs off her face!  The makeup was simple, but lacked oomph; it would've been nice to see some makeup that stood out seeing as the saree was so neutral.  Hey, at least her face didn't look like it needed to be powdered like it usually does!

Fashion aside, it was so wonderful to see the King of Bollywood with his queen, walking the red carpet and on the stage representing Bollywood!  Drop us a comment with your thoughts on their look!

Shahrukh Khan is a Super Star and King of Bollywood.

There's no need to attack me Sanam. This story is about Shahrukh at the Golden Globes, therefore I made a comment about how India's economic problems aren't relevent to the story. Did I call your name out specifically? Did I say everything is about me? Where are you getting these assumptions from? This story is about him, so therefore the comments are about him. So calm down before you start trying to attack me about a story on damn website of all things.

Fanfan you don’t know me so shut it. Do you know how much money I raised for kids not only in India but Africa? I also took part in many runs that help sick children. And I volunteer at my local hospital. So ya I do more than sit on my ass and judge people.

Um Ishaa I’m not addressing your damn SRK. I was addressing a comment and not your comment. Not everything is about you or him. The movie is about the slums so not that irrelevant. But arna so happened to bring the subject up on this post so I was just I agreeing. Did I say shit bout SRK…no!

what kind of action u guys r taking to solve problems of INDIAN satrving children.word is not enough to justify oneself.its performance what matters.its all about srk or rehman not about people of INDIA.ur views r going'where it should not?

What do india's economic problems and poverty have to do with Shahrukh presenting at the Gloden Globes? You lot are so irrelevent!

Ya arna282 I agree. The rich keep getting richer and the poor keep getting poorer. You'd think with so much money acummulating around that some problems of poverty can be solved. But I guess there’s too much greed in the world for any of this to happen. They rather spend billions on wars than feed starving children

January 15, 2009 04:06 PST

and yeah.Sharukh looks n act beautifully.we don't need ur opinions to measure what sharukh lokks like.ur a fooooooooooooooooooooooooool.

January 15, 2009 04:04 PST

i m completely agreed with ishaa.but what the hell this pashudeep is speaking about.its for the first time in 66 yrs an indian has achieved something for entertaining people through its music.so need to push it further'not pull its leg.INDIA is definitely proud to be honoured at world level for its music.we know very well about india n its peple n their standard of living.they r happy to b called poor coz they know what they r.N its just a movie which features INDIA.Hav ever been to mumbai'if not u don't know anything about slums there.

I totally disagree with you arna, how did he act like a fool? He was charming and nice, so just because he's in front of elite Hollywood actors he should act like he's at a poltical event or something? It's an award show for god's sakes, and they're all human too. I think he was fantastic.

To be honest, I was not impressed with Shahrukh Khan and in fact, India should be honored by getting nominations. And honestly, India is a poverty ridden country that is severely corrupted. The rich don't want to help the poor and the country will stay that way until someone with courage steps up to the challenge. Don't get me wrong, I'm proud to be indian but the least shahrukh khan could of done was have some class. Showing up in, what I think is a very wrong idea of classic red carpet attire, was the first straw. He just acted like a fool in front of the elite of Hollywood actors, directors, producers, and the nation as a whole.

He loooks FANTASTIC!:D

Oscar and Golden globe are not the true indicator of great movies. Westerners have different sensibilities than Indians. Also they have stereotype image regarding India as being poverty ridden, chaotic country. And they love to see that. Consider previous three previous nominations which make into final five from India(including Lagaan). And Slumdog Millionaire. These depicts India’s poverty, chaos and some sort of victory over that. It is better if we just forget about Oscars and make great movies. And expand it reach to other parts of the world( like Hollywood). I hate when SRK and AR Rehman says that India is honored by getting nominations and awards at Golden globe and Oscars. This is not the case.

January 13, 2009 23:56 PST

I agree isha he stayed true to who he was

January 13, 2009 23:12 PST

I think he looked adorable, and did an amazing job! I agree, I love that he was himself even in front of all those famous people. He didn't try to be something he wasn't. I didn't think it was possible, but I love him even more now!
