Sona Walia won Best Female Debut at the PTC Punjabi Music Awards which took place on the March 21st. Sona Walia, who was known for working with the group Sona Family that launched Hard Kaur's career, won for her successful debut solo album "Resham Di Dori (Love Strings)". The album is based on love, emotions, customs & traditions. It has flavors for all the age group. The lyrics of this album come from the young talent of Punjab & UK who are dedicated to promote Punjabi mother tongue.

Sona Walia beat Garima Noor, Meera, Sapna, and Sujata Sharma who were all nominated in the same category.

Later on during the program, Sona Walia did a performance from the album which grabbed the audience's attention since this was the first time seeing her perform on stage as a solo performer.
