Sri Lankan Cricket Players Attacked in Pakistan

Terrorism chose Cricket for its latest stage to attack, as a group of gunman shot at a convoy filled with players from the Sri Lankan team in the city of Lahore, Pakistan. The shooting left six policemen dead, and seven players and one coach wounded.
Pakistani politician, Imran Khan had this to say regarding the attack. "This was one of the worst security failures in Pakistan.The Pakistan government guaranteed the Sri Lankan cricket team that they would provide them security."
Officials investigating the incident claim that the situation bore similarities to the horrific attacks in Mumbai leading them to believe the culprits are Pakistan based Islamic-militants.
Luckily the players were able to avoid the bullets of their attackers. ""We had an amazing driver who just kept driving the bus straight through all of that to the ground and that's probably what saved us", said Kumar Sangakkara, wicket keeper for the Sri Lankan team.
The driver in the bus behind them wasn't as fortunate as he lost his life during the shootings.
Grenades, rocket lauchers and backpacks were found at the scene of the crime according to police which belonged to the suspects. Before the shooting started the gunman fired a rocket propelled grenade as a distraction leading investigators to believe this was a well planned attack.
Pakistan's ability to host high level sporting events is now in jeopardy. The chief of ICC or the (International Cricket Council) said, "It's difficult to see international cricket being played in Pakistan for the foreseeable future".

yea i heard about this like 15 hrs ago while watchin the india new zealand match. This is so terrible and its scary that even a sports team which has no political connections is not safe these days from this kind of senseless violence.
