The track features eight very talented UK artists (including Mentor himself, who raps on the first verse) and is the perfect example of how the Urban Desi scene is making major strides. And lucky for you, it’s now available for FREE from the Desi Hits! Free Downloads page! But before you head over there, let’s give you a little insight on how it all came about.

The track features, Mentor, AG Dolla, Swami Baracus, Mumzy, Kay Vew (who is Apache Indian’s son), Nika D (who’s half Desi and half white), Lost Souljah (who represents the Brown females) and our very own Menis from the Brown Boy show, who first broke the track on his show.
Yet, just how did the idea come about? Well it’s actually a spin on the track ‘Black Boys’ by UK artist Bashy, which discussed issues within the Black community in the UK. Mentor spoke to Bashy and discussed his desire to take the beat of the track and apply his own roster of MCs to represent the issues that the Desi scene deems necessary. “I did it to show that Asian MCs are relevant… to represent our culture,” said Mentor.
The track itself is a salute to the Brown culture and even cites artists like Apache Indian, Bally Sagoo, Panjabi MC, Rishi Rich and Jay Sean for making major strides in the Urban Desi movement. Mentor sees it as a way to help South Asian artists overcome the negative stereotypes that may be out there.
When you listen to the track it’s hard not to lift your head high and feel proud to be Brown as the track touches on everything from the struggles and Mahatma Gandhi to being proud of where we came from and where we’re going. Like the track says, “And I shout it out because I’m Brown and proud”!! So if you’re Brown and you’re proud, there’s really no reason not to download this track and represent the Brown Boys and Girls all across the world!
