The N-AS Word

October 26 2007 22:16 PST

What are rappers infamous for? Stirring up controversy! And here is a rapper that’s had his fair share of it. We’re talking about none other than Nas. And he’s attempting to push the limit once again with the title of his next album. Shall we give you a hint of what he’s planning to call it?

Think about how you’d feel if a Desi rapper used the P-word as the title for his album. You’d think that he was absolutely nuts right? Like what’s he thinking? Using racial slurs to sell his album... Exactly! Well Universal Music Group may face a withdrawal of $84 million in state investments if the company doesn't change the title of Nas' forthcoming release, 'Ni**er.' Despite prior reports that Nas’ album title was shut down by Def Jam,the rapper has since clarified that his new album WILL be called 'Ni**er.'

Call him defiant, a rebel or whatever you want... Nas is definitely trying to make a very BOLD statement here. If album titles are somewhat reflective of the artiste then what is Nas trying to tell us?? Is this what he see’s himself as? Guess... We’ll have to wait for Nas to shed some light on this. Hopefully this word is to be looked at in a positive sense!

This is just really disgusting! I mean you guys are right, I would hate having an album titled with the P word, so what makes Nas think this is appropriate? And having the label back him up is what's more shocking. It just goes to show how much hip hop has really changed!
